You always give such great answers! In several posts I notice that someone gives a great answer and says exactly what I'm thinking and then I look who posted it and it's always you! :D JoRae |
Not to say that all yorkies are stinky... I've only known one personally and will soon have one in my home again (15 days!) But my Winston, who lived 17 years, had a skin "problem" in his later years. I never could really smell him, but my friends said he smelled like Cheetos!:D I'm sure that this was an isolated case.;) |
My dogs dont smell nor do they have bumps?? Now my Boykin Spaniel on the other hand tends to smell much more often... Dawn |
Cujo starts smelling like cheese popcorn after about a week or so after his bath, but he never smells like a dog! We think it is cute that he smells cheesy so we don't think it stinks! Cujo also uses pee pads and if we leave them out for more than a day or so the whole room starts to smell like urine. YUCK! |

I agree with the oilyness. With Kayla and Dudley its more an oily look to the hair than a smell. Even Lexi, our schnauzer will have alittle smell to her if she gets out and runs and gets hot, and they are not suppose to have doggie smells either. I would ignore what is being said because if you have a love for dogs there is always someone with an off opionion. Just love your baby and if he or she does have alittle smell, so what??? Like someone said , we even smell if we don't take showers or baths. lol!!! I think you will be real happy with your baby and like I said just ignore the little comments. Good luck and post pictures when you can. |
Geesh, just noticed how old this thread was. Should have looked. |
To me, my yorkie mix has a more distinct doggy odor than my other dogs. It's not bad, just more noticeable although I've only had her a month and she came from the streets so... With a good diet and regular bathing it seems to be a lot better already. But she does start to smell faster still than the others and her coat seems to get oily looking faster than the others. She is very destructive though. She just demolishes toys. :p |

Foxy doesnt smell. Now her mouth is foul smelling but thats because she needs a dental. Her former owners didnt think it was necessary to take proper care of her teeth...but Im sure once we take care of that she will be fine. So I have to agree with everyone else, Yorkies dont usually "stink"...JMO |
I have been owned :D by yorkies for 15 years now...None of mine have ever smelled or had any bumps on them!!...Yes they can be destructive at the puppy stage but thats true for any breed of dog not just yorkies. And if your yorkies ears smell bad, thats a sign of an ear infection and I would get to the vet. If a Yorkie smell bad and has bumps on them, its a medical issue or Diet and needs a Vets attention as well. |
LOL just seen the date on this thread, its like almost 4 years old  |
