Raw & Kibble...am I over feeding? I just started my 3 month yorkie on Natures Variety. He is a very picky eater. I tried feeding him Orijen, Artemis, Eukanuba, etc. He did not eat the dry kibble unless he was very hungry or unless I hand fed him. I decided to switch to the raw diet using Nature's Variety and he ate it in seconds. I am on week 1 1/2 and he is doing very well with eating raw. Now I am concerned with how much to feed him. I have the NV medallions. Since I work during the day...I feed him one in the morning, I leave 1/4 cup of dry kibble out (sometimes he eats it sometimes he doesn't), and then I feed him one medallion around 7 or 8pm. Am I over feeding him? He is only 2.5lbs. Please advise:confused: |
Actually, he should be getting btwn 3-4 medallions at his age/weight. Have you used NV's interactive feeding guide? It is here: http://www.naturesvariety.com/ifc.la...0DDDvnl30A6F0B At a wt. btwn 2-3 lbs., for a puppy who has 50-80% of his adult weight - it recommends 3 medallions for 2 pounds, and 4 medallions for 3 pounds. |
Thanks for the link! But how do I ensure that he is getting the proper amount of medallions if I am at work and you're not suppose to leave out raw all day which is why i try and substitute quality dry kibble until i get back home to feed him more raw? |
