All of mine are chipped and I even chip my puppies before they leave.

Koda is not yet. But, I know for a fact Koda and our new baby girl, are getting gift certificates for it on Christmas from my Mom! I love my Mom, she always thinks of the greatest gifts! lol! :)

Mine is not yet! I wanted to have her microchipped on her first visit to vets for vaccination but the vet didn't recommend it as she is still too young. She said they do it at 6 month while being spayed and asleep, since my Tara cried so much even while being vaccinated and the vet said it's a lot bigger needle, the chip is size of a rice grain, now who would want thick needle like that under their skin.
But I don't know if they would put her to sleep so that it wouldn't hurt her so much, I would have it done right away.

I def. think it is a good idea. Yeah a honest person would have to take them in but if they go lost wouldn't you want to know you did everything possible to get them back. I know they will be coming up with a collar with a homing device so a satellite can actually track them right when you call in, it only available for lg to med breeds but toy breeds are next and I know I'l def. want to invest in that.

All 4 of mine are microchipped. Last week when I had my dogs at the vet for vaccinations, someone brought in a yorkie that they had found. They were going to have him scanned to see if he was chipped. He was so cute too and you could tell that he had been well cared for. He had a cute snauzer cut and was very friendly. I asked about him when I came out after our appointment but the girl at the front desk didn't know what they had found out. I sure hope he was microchipped because I'm sure his owners would love to get him back.

Lucy is microchipped. I want any advantage I can get if my baby gets lost...

Mine are not. Not all vets have the equipment to check, and some just don't. When they make one that's traceable like GPS then I'll get them. Just my opinion.

My vet did mention some cases of tumors growing after chipping. I was in for puppy shots. The next trip in both are getting chipped. Price is $40.00 each, however i want the spot numbed before so it may cost more. Peace of mind is worth it. I do have tags with info on the collars also.

In September we had a family get together for my daughter's birthday. When everyone was leaving, we believe our little Davie, 4 pounds, must have gotten out with the Grandkids. Well, long story short, we missed her less than an hour later when we were settling down for the night. Hubby and I searched the neighborhood all night, calling for her, crying...it was terrible. The next morning I went to work just to make a flier and on my way home my cell phone rang and it was a vet's office that was about 10 miles away, and someone dropped Davie off and they scanned her, got our name and number and we got our baby back. I have never hugged and kissed her so many times in all her little life as I did that day. SOOOOO, yes...get your little ones chipped!!!!

Neither are mine...but these little things are fast!!! Please be careful!!

Teddi definitely is chipped but I don't plan on losing her :)

There are still some honest people out there that will try to find a dog's owner. I say better safe than sorry. Microchipping sure can't hurt

i live in southwestern penna. our vet. just last month told about 2 differant storys about yorkies being stolden close to us. we had our new baby jazzy with us. and our male cota. we chipped cota , but she wants to wait until jazzy is alittle bigger. jazzy has an app. monday to get second set of baby shots and our female sugar is being chipped then , our vet said if dog goes missing to call all vets in our srounding area if someone brings a yorkie in will be scanned. at least they will be on the look our for yorkie that is new pacient or brought in hurt

Before you microchip you should make sure to read up on it- there was a recent study that said microchipping increases the chance of cancer by something like 5-10%? Anyway I decided against it after that- I had actually signed up to get Roo microchipped when my parents told me they heard it on the news the night before and I looked it up and found articles about it and called back and told them under no circumstances to microchip my baby! It's not worth the risk for me!!

My husband was half asleep, and opened the gate to get pepsi out of the truck, and one of my one girls got out, she is a runner..three hours later he comes home and asks me if I found her yet..I could not believe what I was hearing as I am waking up..he said he looked all over and he figured I had left her outside all night..I knew she was with me the night before, as I am last in bed and know the routine..could tell him exactly where she was when I went to bed...so the panic was on for me.I am still not even awake yet...I call the animal control office, who tells me to call the humane society.
I said my yorkie has run off, they said right away to me, oh is this the yorkie from of course another town, we had moved from...but they had my daughters phone number and called her..then they told me she was at an animal hospital, she had ran to the busiest corner close by us, some one stopped and picked her up and the vet hospital was also right there, so the people were honest enough to take her to some one that would care for her until I was found..
My husband almost died to think it was him that let her out..she is more his then mine..he did not notice as usually she would stay in bed with me.
Had there been no microchip, and those people had not taken her to a vet, I might not have her right now..she is a runner and she can get out in such a quick minute.
Mine was that day a happy ending...I think due to microchipping and many people after that, got there pets done..

I was so scared to microship Chloe just because I thought it would hurt but I finally decided this year it had to be done. And guess what? It took the vet all of maybe 2 seconds and Chloe didnt even flinch. I was so impressed, I definetly say go for it!! :thumbup:

Magic and Sailor are microchipped and registered through Home Again. They hardly flinched when the needle went in and had really no reaction. You never really feel Sailor's chip, but we do feel Magic's alot of the time and hers actually moved from where it was inserted.

Captain has not yet been done, but it is on the list of things to do. Often times at the dog shows they will offer this service at a reasonable cost. (With the girls we went to a vet and paid too much.......when weeks later we found the spca did it for $15 to $25.)

None of the "studies" that have come out prove anything to me...they are all a bunch of speculation to me. I don't believe microchipping causes tumors. We've been microchipping dogs and cats for like 15 years now (thousands and thousands have been chipped) and they found ONE dog that actually had a tumor around a microchip....ONE dog out of several THOUSANDS (if not millions). And rats and mice get cancer so easily...everything causes them to get cancer, so studies done in mice/rats just don't necessarily tell me anything when comparing to other animals. I truly believe microchipping is very safe.

My pet rat had 2 tumors in his 3 + 1/4 years, despite me feeding him soy milk and broccoli which apparently prevent it.

Indeed, it doesn't hurt - or al least not so much as we think. Milo nearly took the vet surgery down with cries when he has his bvaby shots, but he didn't cry at all with the chip. Go figure.
