Ughhhh Garbage!!! Riley has learned how to get into the garbage. Its a pain!! I wake up in the morning and garbage is everywhere. This morning he, some how, got a chicken bone. Are chicken bones bad for him? He didn't really eat it. I don't even think he chewed on it. I figured he just licked on it. To make things worse, he got a hot chocolate packet too. It was empty, so I don't think the chocolate can hurt him. |
First, cooked chicken bone is dangerous, yes. Secondly, I'm wondering: how does a Yorkie get into the trash? lol |

I don't have a big garbage can and Riley can jump up and knock it over. Its a pain. I need to get a bigger one. Lol. |
If she did NOT eat/chew the chicken bone, she's fine. Just be sure she can't get access to cooked bones. And - get a bigger trash can! :p |
Well, now that he knows there's yummy 'treasures' in there you're going to have to get either a bigger trash can or one with a cover (that's what I have). These little rascals keep us on our toes - LOL! |

I would not give cooked nor raw chicken bones... The same goes for rabbit bones... Birds (in general) have hollow bones that when smashed create dangerous needle-like fragments that can pierce through organs sometimes:eek: I've heard just TOO many horror stories about chicken bones...:( |
My partner's dog died because his mother fed it the leftovers from a whole cooked chicken. :( Silly, silly woman. I strongly advise either getting a bigger garbage bin, one with a lid or put it up on the bench or somewhere he can't get. I put my bin up after Suzy discovered her empty food packets in there. |
I looked at the bone again to make sure he didnt chew on it. Now I'm not so sure about it. Would he be acting weird or anything if he did eat it? |

Maybe he didn't have enough to cause him harm... If it was just a tiny bit... |
If the bone looks whole and intact he probably didnt chew on it |
I forgot to say that the cartilage is not dangerous... |
I'd put the trashcan somewhere where he can't get to it - underneath the sink, in a cabinet, pantry, garage, or somewhere where you can shut a door and he can't access it. Although dogs' digestive systems are able to handle all kinds of gross stuff, constantly getting into the trash can be very dangerous to him (and a pain for you to have to clean up) |
I'd get a bigger can, or move the one you have somewhere out of the way. Their little buggers aren't they. |

I've been watching him for the past few hours and he seems fine. No vomiting or irregular stool. |
