Can heartworm meds make yorkie sick? Maddie had her heartworm medication a couple of days ago...she had it last month and did just fine. Last night she started throwing up...over and over again...until there was nothing left to throw up, then she got the dry heaves. I was afraid she was going to puke up her innards. She also got diarrhea...first time it was blackish...then it was just like water and now it is yellow colored. Her tummy was making such loud gurgles and squeaks and I felt so bad for her. I gave her some pepto bismol and that seemed to help settle it down a bit and she quit throwing up. Today she's still having diarhhea. I have given her very little food...just a little bit of the prescription food which amounts to the rice and chicken. I also went and got pediolite for her and she has had some of that. I don't really think it could be because of the heartworm med, but it's the only thing I can think of that she has had different lately. Poor little sweetie isn't having such a good forth of July! |
wow i'm not sure of any symtoms for it but is it possiable that its kennel cough? i'm so sorry but i don't know what it could possiable be. maybe try calling the vet?? keep us posted and i'll say a little prayer for her! |
Poor little girl! I didn't think heartwormer would do that, especially if she has had it before and was fine. Sounds like the flu but I don't think they get the flu do they? I hope she starts feeling better soon! |
Maddie started improving and feeling better last night. I'm so happy! It was like she had the 24 hour flu. I'm thinking maybe she must have gotten into something outside somewhere that got her so sick! Anyway, I'm glad to report she seems to be feeling fine! Thanks Megan and Lily's mom! |
getting sick from heartworm meds. Matise got sick and threw up when I gave him Heartgaurd so I switched him to interceptor and he hasn't thrown up once from it. |
