Another food question Today I took Maddie up to the pet boutique in town where we get our shampoo. I was talking to the clerk about how picky Maddie is about her food...and how I have them on Innova now. She asked me how I like it and I told her it's great, it's the only thing they'll eat plain...but it's so rich that it upsets their tummies sometimes. She gave me a sample of the wee bites? Solid Gold....she said a lot of picky small dogs love it. I came home and gave it to them to try...thinking they would snub their nose...but they ate every bite!! What do you guys think of this food? I am pretty happy with the Innova, but it's just so rich...it gives them a little loose stool sometimes... |
It's a pretty good food overall...but it does have barley, which some dogs don't do well with; it also has flaxseed oil - and some dogs get itchy with that. Gosh, that's too bad about the Innova - you do mean EVO, right? So, all of them get a bit upset on it? How odd. How long have they been on it? What a bummer bc that is such a good food! |
Nope I was just talking about regular Innova...no EVO...does EVO upset their tummies too? |

Well, they were on RC, then Canidae, then Merrick, then CSFTDLS, now the Innova...I've heard others say that too...that it was too rich for their dog BTW, do you have pics of Marcel as a baby? I think my Ryder might end up looking similar to him full grown... |
I switched Lucy from RC Puppy, to Natural Balance (which she wouldn't eat after two days), to finally the Solid Gold Wee Bites. She loves it! She had no problems with the switch over and I switched her cold turkey and has had zero tummy upset from it so far. She's been on it for about three weeks and has gone from 3 poos per day down to one and they are smaller and odorless. For us, it works :) |
another food question 3 Attachment(s) I am at the end of my rope with dog food and my Tricksie' eating "STUFF". Thought she had a cast iron stomach, never been sick until now and she is 14 months old. Read so much about bad dog food so I put her on Life's Abundance but introduced it slowly into her Purina Rice and Lamb. She has eaten: zippers out of my pillow covers, I find a few pieces so she must eat the rest; tore my sofa arm and pulled the filling out; takes her hair ties out and eats them, chewed up sheets and pillow cases!!!!! I am with her all of the time, she just must do this when we dose off watching TV or after we have gone to bed. She has had the poops, only at night and early mornings for 3 days and it is bad and smells awful. Found some foreign objects in it. She seems to be full of energy. Gave her brown rice last night and this morning. If she does it again tonight I will take her to the Vet. tomorrow. I have been giving her a teas. of low fat cottage cheese and a teas. of sugar free applesauce every afternoon for a long time, but didn't today. Any suggestions? |
I don't know anything about that food, but if the other one helps there stomachs I'd use that. |
It is a good food:thumbup:, The Petco in here have it now. |
It is what I use... for my westie, who had allergies to everything else we tried. He is very picky and he eats it up and will even do his tricks to get it. This is also what I plan to feed Crickett when she comes home. Good Luck!! |

Thanks, She got worse this morning, looked as if blood was in her poop. The Vet did an exam and felt that she has baterial infection caused from, THOSE OBJECTS she loves to eat. She was a bit dehydrated so they gave her some fluids in the back under her skin, and antiobotics. I am so thankful. |
I hope she feels better soon :( |

Thank you, she is always so full of life, lazy today but that has a lot to do with the visit to the Doctor and all of those big dogs she cries to play with. |
I have a friend who's yorkie has ulcerative colitis and she had to start cooking his food, he is doing much better now. One of the signs of ulcerative colitis is blood in the stool. She almost lost him, he lost 2lbs but he's back up to 5lbs since she started cooking his food. Didi |
