Just let me what you think? We were told by Sherlock vet that his condition is not getting better and we need to consider placing him down. Please so not feel bad about this we have know for awhile that we might have to do this. That is one reason we got Sal. Here is our dilemma we are think about getting another puppy so that Sal will have a playmate. How long should we wait until we get a new puppy after Sherlock leaves us?.:yorkietal |
What is wrong with Sherlock? I missed it in your other posts. |
you know this is a hard question b/c some people wait months some go out the next couple of days.. I have a friend who got one two days later. SO you just have to go with your GUT feelings.. But you already know someone cant replace a someone else. Time doesnt EVER heal a some say it does but it doesnt.. You will know when the time is RIGHT:) |
Sherlock right leg has a form of bone cancer, he also has joint problems due to old age. We have been hope that the drug that he was taking would kill the cancer cell but it does not seem to be working and the vet is not to sure what to do. He told us that in the next 6 months we need to do what is best for him. |

Then, last Friday, we took our Sharpei to the vet because her latest episode of FSF (sharpei fever) seemed to be lasting a while. Test results came back - her kidneys were finished, basically we were told to put her down. We did. Right now I probably wouldn't take a free puppy from the top Yorkie in the world. I'm just too raw, and we've agreed that it will be a long while before we get a 2nd dog. Basically, go with what you feel. But until the day I die, I will credit getting SoCo from saving from a mental institution :) Focusing on him for the last few days has definitely helped both my hubby and I from going off the deep end. Hope that helps, and I'm truly sorry that Sherlock will be going to the bridge. Tara ((((hugs)))) |
Im sorry:( Youll know when your ready |
I'm sorry to hear that. |
So sorry:( :( poor babie, I hope he is not in pain. |
I'm so sorry about your baby. You'll know when the time is right for you. |
Grief Grief is a weird thing. Some people would feel they are betraying their "passed" puppy... others need something... someone to help them through the grief and actually end up bonding better w/ a new pup than they can ever imagine. I grew up on a farm and lost many pets over the years...I always did better w/ a new one right away... but one of the reasons I want to get my mom a new dog now is her older maltese is getting on up in age and she would never be able to get a new dog after the maltese dies... you know? Since you have had time to prepare for this (as much as you can possibly prepare for putting a dog down) it may be easier for you to get a dog regardless of which cat. of griever you are. |
I am sorry for what you all are going through. I think having a new puppy to focus on will help heal your pain. |
