Has anyone ever heard of this? I just took my "lil Marine" Precious to the vet for her third booster shots and she chewed the Doctor up, almost as bad as she does me lol, and the nurse she left alone. The doctor noticed my battle scars from playing with her and asked me if I was diabetic. I replied that I am, and he asked does she bite me all the time, but not others? I said why yes she does. She only tears into me and licks my wife like she was a salt lick or something. The doctor stated that my blood and skin can have a sweet taste to her hence the reason she chews on me. He said that he is diabetic as well, yet his nurse is not. I asked what could be done to prevent this as I love the puppy so much and love playing with her, to which he said to just tell her stop or no when she bites and stop playing with her. (Thats usually when she goes for my toes lol) But he said that unless I whip diabetes, that she will more than likely continue to eat on me...:( |
Wow that is interesting. Thats the first time I have heard that |
yes, I have heard of it and the doc is right but I don't know how to stop it. My mother was a diabetic and all the pets licked her. I even saw her lick her own arm once and she told me about the sugar breaking thru the skin. She was only doing it to show me. be careful because as a retired nurse, I know diabetic places are hard to get healed up. |
That makes sense in a strange way, I have an attorney in my office that has diabetes so I am slightly familiar. Your baby just thinks your sweet and can't resist! ;-) |
welcome to YT! |
Aww that sweet and welcome to YT:D |
Wow That is very interesting. I wonder is she does it more when your sugar is high? Do be careful... one dog bite that breaks the skin on your feet and you could lose your leg. I have an uncle in law that lost is leg from what started out as a bug bite mosq? Anyway... maybe keep shoes or house shoes on all the time! lol. |
That's interesting... |
Wow I never new that, thanks for the info,Welcome to yt:) |
That is so interesting. Almost makes me want to lick a diabetic person's arm to see if I can detect the sugar, lol. |
That's really interesting. I'm glad I don't taste like sugar. LOL |
Well I learned something new today!! :P |
Hmmmm, I have diabetes and my shih tzu is licking on me every chance she gets. Adie doesn't though. Shorkie Daddy! I love your signature! Too funny.:sidesplt: |
OMG that is funny and interesting at the same time. Seriously now I need to find a diabetic to lick :p |
I don't have diabetes, but my little monster chewed me to bits when he was in that puppy teething stage -- here's what I did to protect myself: I went to the local drugstore where I bought these little stretchy knit gloves they sell for about a dollar (they look little like they should be for a kid, but when you put them on they stretch). I put these on when I would play with him and they did protect me from the puppy teeth -- and if they got torn, no big deal since they cost a buck. You might try something like that to gove your hands a rest. |
