Do MOST yorkies end up having teeth pulled? Pixie is coming up to 6 months and is teething, she has lost a couple of bottom incisors (after a game of tug of war!) and i can see the top ones coming through just behind her baby teeth. I can also see the bottom canines starting to show on the inside of the baby ones. I really hope the baby teeth come out on their own as she's only little and the anaesthetic terrifies me! Does teething usually take longer the smaller the dog? and should i wait a bit longer to see how she goes before giving up and going to the vet? I'm so worried about this, my breeder told me a friend of hers lost 2 little ones having teeth pulled and her words are haunting me.:( |
i wouldn't say most. out of the 4 of mine, two had retained baby teeth. i waited and watched their bite to make sure it wasn't moving the permanent out of line. at 14 months, both who had the retained baby teeth lost them. now if they are getting spay or neutered, go ahead and have it done then |
Of my 3, only Benjamin needed any pulled (2) and he is my biggest (12lbs). |
Lacy had to have her 4 canines pulled. My parents' yorkie and my best friend's yorkie also had to have teeth pulled. It's pretty common to need them pulled. I'd either have it done when she is spayed or have it done if they haven't fallen out by a year of age |
My Mum's Ellie had to have some removed but the vet said he wanted to do it when she went in to be spayed so she only had to go under once. |

Two of mine are adopted so I don't know, but Penny's teeth came out on their own. |

Last time i weighed her she was 2lbs 4oz. |
Both of mine had 4 baby teeth pulled when they were spayed and neutered. If I would have let them come out on ther own they may have but I didnt want to chance having to put them under anesthesia twice. I would give it untill she is a year old if your not going to have her spayed |
