Vomiting Yorkie
 
For about the last 2 weeks my Yorkie, Emma (15 months old, 9 pounds) has been throwing up everyday. It all began after I started feeing her Pedigree moist food in the packet. I admit that she has always been given "treats" from the table in addition to various dry dog foods. However, she has never has a problem with digestion before. She is a very hearty girl as you can tell from her weight. On the second day of vomiting she had a major bowel movement. So I thought maybe the vomiting was a result of her possibly being constipated. Wrong. Her energy level is basically the same, water intake excellent, but within about and hour eating she will vomit.Anyone out there with a similar experience or advice?

I really think you answered your own question.:) It is obviously the Pedigree. There is something in there that doesn't agree with her. Why don't you stop that and see how she does? In my opinion, Pedigree is a very bad food to feed. If you want to give moist or canned food have you tried Evangers, Evo, Innova, Canidae, Merrick... They are way higher quality. You can go here:
dogfoodanalysis.com and look for 4 or 5 star foods. Six star are the best but it all depends on how much protein you think a Yorkie should have. The six star usually have the most and these foods can be too rich for Yorkies.

I failed to write that I stopped feeding her the pedigree immediately. Also "treats" from the table have basically stopped. I started her on Science diet dry food which she would have nothing to do with. Then I tried Iams dry--no go. Then I have been trying Iams canned food and she will eat this hesitantly but has been vomiting some after eating. I will get on the web site you recommended and pick a 5 or 6 star. I feel like I have created this mess and I have guilt. Our Yorkie is the baby of our family and we want her to be back to her old self.

I neglected to write that I stopped the Pedigree immediately. Since then I have tried Science Diet and Iams dry---both of which Emma will not eat. I finally bought the Iams canned and she will eat this after she smells it and gives it some thought. I will look at the web site you suggested. Thanks

I agree, I would stop the pedigree, hope she is better soon:)

I would also stop the pedigree and buy a premium canned food. There is all kinds of gross stuff in Pedigree, but your premium brands will have good ingredients.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I had stopped the pedigree immediately 2 weeks ago and have been experimenting with different foods. I will check the web site suggested to find a quality food. Emma says "Thank you"

I'd recommend you choose ONE good, quality and stick w/ it, rather than experimenting w/ multiple foods - her system really needs to rest after so much vomiting.

I agree. Since it is so hard to find Solid Gold anymore, I have been purchasing Wellness that is Top Quality @$1.89 a can but it's worth it.

Be careful of grapes often one can fall on the floor and they are toxic to dogs.
