Please help! Something is wrong with Hootie!
 

Hootie has not been acting like herself this week and this evening it seems to have gotten worse. For about the past week, she has been waking up in the mornings shaking and throwing up yellow foamy stuff. I've been kind of rubbing it off and just making her eat some food and giving her some NutriCal. Well, this morning she threw up 6-7 times and she has refused to eat or drink anything today. I've given her NutriCal several times and gave her some water through a syringe. She walks around and seems somewhat disoriented. She'll take a few steps and then try to sit or lay down but acts like it's uncomfortable. Also, I've seen her a couple of times take a few steps and then stop and stretch her back legs. She's sitting in my lap right now shaking and won't lay down. (As I was re-reading this, she finally laid down in my lap but she is CLEARLY not feeling well!) I made her eat 4-5 pieces of food about an hour ago and she's held it down so far but she refuses to eat anymore. Nothing in our routine has changed except a week ago I got a bag of baby carrots and have been giving the yorkies 1/4-1/2 a carrot each as a treat when they come in from outside. It totals to about 2 carrots each throughout the day. Also, I put some apple cider vinegar in their water Friday and yesterday. I didn't give Hootie any carrots yesterday or today and I haven't put any ACV in their water today. Hobbs is acting normally. What could be wrong with Hootie?????? Should I take her to the emergency vet 2nite or can I wait until morning? Should I continue the water through the syringe and NutriCal? I'm so worried about her. :( :( :(

I am no expert, and I am not a vet...but could hootie have a blockage???

Beyond that I don't have advice but am sending hugs and prayers your way.

Would carrots cause a blockage? I can't think of anything else that should would have eaten to cause it. And she's been pooping normally.

yikes.. do you think maybe a carrott got stuck?? I'd be bringin her there tonight... asap... this isn't a one day thing.. something is up.. i'd go figure out what it is... sending hugs and prayers!

Oh No, I hope she is ok, when karligh was like that, I rushed her in and she had pancreitis, they gave her calvermox, not sure about the spelling, but it was a 10 day antibiotic, she was better in a few days. prayers comming your way. they also gave her a shot for the vomiting and it helped alot.

I thought that if there was a blockage or an obstruction, she wouldn't poop? She's been pooping normally.

I think you are right about that. My vet told me that nothing would go in (vomiting) or out (poop). So, hopefully you can discount that.

Oh no, hopefully it isn't pancreatitis. I would atleast call the er and knowing me she would be there.

What are the symptoms of pancreatitis? I thought that was caused by eating something fatty or greasy? She hasn't had anything like that. Can it be caused by something else?

UPDATE: Hootie is voluntarily eating a little bit of food out of her bowl! She only at 4-5 pieces, but that's definitely better than nothing! Now cross your fingers that she keeps it down!

Iam so happy to hear she is better, Karleigh would not eat anything,and she was acting lathargic, had a fever and vomiting, If she is eating, I would say she is feeling better, praying for her, maybe she just had a stomach virus, hugs to you both, keep us updated please:)

Poor baby. I hope she will get all better now.

Well, my husband has been home all week and he said that she acts like this for a couple of hours and then starts acting normally. I dunno. Maybe she acts like this all the time but since hubby and I are both usually at work during the day and hubby has been home this week, maybe he just noticed she acts different during the day or something. Whatever it is, it is very strange. But if she's throwing up alot in the morning like she was this morning, I'm going to take her to the vet.

UPDATE: Hootie seems to be acting normally today. She ate a tiny bit last night and drank some water. I gave her some NutriCal before bed. When I woke up at 6:30am to take all the dogs out, I gave her some NutriCal when she came back in. She hasn't vomited today. I honestly think that she doesn't eat enough and her body motabolizes food very quickly and that was making her vomit and yellow foam and shake from low blood sugar. I received my shipment of Orijen in the mail today and put a bowl of it out for the yorkies and they ate it up! They are both so full right now! Hopefully Hootie will enjoy this new food and will eat more. I'm also getting some treats to keep by my bed and I'll give her one in the mornings when she is done pottying. Hopefully all these things will help!
