Floppy Ears 2 Attachment(s) Hello Everyone! I was just wondering if Roxi's ears wil remain floppy? I think they are super cute but I'm just a little confused. When we brought her home, her right ear was the only one that kinda flopped, but now both are a bit droopy. We noticed that the left ear was a little floppy about a week ago. Will they remain this way? |
How old is she? Sometimes when they are teething there ears will go up and down. Also keping the hair on the ears shaved helps. |
Murfee's drooped too but are standing up now. Personally I thought he looked soooooo cute when they drooped. |
As long as Roxi is less than 6 months of age (from what I understand) her ears (A) may still come back up on their own, or (B) if you want to be sure they come up, you can tape them up. The second picture you posted her ears look pretty "heavy" with her hair. If you buzz the hair short on about the top 1/3 of her ears, the less weight will either help them to come back up or make it easier for you to tape them up. There area a few websites that show how to tape them...if I new how to insert a link, i would. But if you just do a web search on "taping yorkies ears" you'll probably come up with something. Good luck with whatever you decide. When I got my first yorkie, I didn't know any better about their ears, so his flop a little. My girl Lexie's ears are standing upright...I helped them along with the tape trick. BTW...I like her sweater in the second picture:) |
She's only 3 months old. I think she looks adorable, I just wondered if they would remain this way. How do you know when they are teething. She's chewing on EVERYTHING but she's done that since we brought her home. |
Welcome to YT! Your baby is a cutie!! |
Welcome. I have a Roxy too just spelled differ. I had the same problem with ears. I had her ears tipped and did the tape thing. They both did stand right now one is standing all the time the other is floppy because she teething like crazy. It looks really cute with one up and one done. |
Thank you for the warm welcome. Hmmm... tape huh? I will definitely research that. She hasn't gotten a haircut. When should I do that? I wouldn't dare do it myself. Thank you (I got the sweater from Petco for no more than $6.00). One of my students ( I teach third grade) is a knitter and is making a "Roxi Collection" with her mom. I can't wait to see what she comes up with. |
1 Attachment(s) Unless you tape them or trim they they will be floppy. Aubreys is floppy. |
I just realized that you are in Georgia, I am too! Welcome to YT!! |
Could I take her to a groomer to get them taped if we decided to that? |

I don't know if grommers would do that, they might trim them for you. I would guess just to call the groomer that you will be taking her to. |
Thanks for the information! Yes, we live in Buckhead (Atlanta) and you? |
I live in Gainesville, near Lake Lanier. |
Too far for a play date:( . Is the ear taping necessary? I mean, will Roxi benefit from having her ears upright or is it simply cosmetic? |
