Okay to use same Frontline on dogs and cats? I have a quick question.... I have some Frontline for my dogs, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is the same formula that they use for cats??? My BF's cat got fleas (presumably from Kobi ) and he just wants one treatment of it to get rid of them because he's an inside kitty and really doesn't need flea protection. Anywho...he just wants one treatment of it. Is it okay to give him one treatment that I have for my dogs for his cat? Anyone do this on a regular basis for their kitties? Thanks, y'all!! |
I know with Advantix you can't use it on cats. Do you have the box? It should say... |
No it is not the same formula. Frontline sells a formula specifically for cats. Cats are more sensitive to flea products than dogs...so never use a dog product on a cat. I wouldn't purchase anything Hartz either. That stuff is awful... |
No. A couple of the active ingredients used in dog flea treatments can cause nervous tics, convulsions, breathing difficulties, fits and even death in cats. Best to be safe and get a flea treatment made for cats. |

NO!!!! Don't do it. They do not use the same chemical in the dog and cat formulas and a cat can not tolerate the chemical in the dogs product. My brother's neighbor used dog frontline on their cat and almost killed her. It cost them a ton of money in vet bills and the cat has some lasting issues. Also, just an fyi do not use a flea dip or shampoo that says it can be used on dogs or cats. Especially if you happen to own a sensitive breed such as a persian or manx. It can affect their nervous system. |

My vet told me the cat and dog frontline can't be switched. I would get the cat for cat & so forth. |
