What a difference a day makes. Delilah got up this morning and wolfed down TWO medallions! After the first one and licking the plate clean she looked up at me like where is the main course? So I gave her another and it was gone in no time!

Ok, so I need to know about what RMB I can give her. I think I have seen that you should not give them the little drummies I guess cause they are small, but she is very small and I think it would be the perfect size for her. What do you think? And what about the skin on chickens, should I remove it? Suggestions please.......

I dont know much about raw feeding but when I homecook chicken for mine I dont give mine skin because it has so much fat. I am interested in raw feeding and will be curious what others say

I've given Lacy chicken necks occasionally. I cut all the skin off of them

I don't know about the medallions; but a certain amount of natural fats (that would be in the skin) is essential for balance. In prey-model feeding, folks usually just let the pet's weight determine how much skin is either taken off or left. Pet looking heavy: skin the chicken. Pet needs a few ounces: leave the skin.

Man, 4 medallions a day! And would eat more if I let her. She is 9 month old 2 lbs....should only be eating 2-2.5 per day. I am gonna have to get a second job!

I will see about adding some RMB to cut her back on the medallions. I wish there was a local place I could get them. I know the local groomer here will not stock them in her store....already felt her out and as you would expect she thinks it is a bad diet....ugh.

I sucks to live in a backwards city/state. Although I would not be happy in a big city....country girl here.

Did you see the coupon thread I posted in this forum? You can get a free bag of medallions.

Local supermarket. RMB = Raw (consumable)Meat Bones: chicken, turkey, rabbit, quail, pork ribs. Marrow Bones ('rec' bones) not recommended as they are too dense and may harm teeth and jaw.

Well I had a coupon for a free 3 lb bag that the company sent when I was requesting samples. There was no mention of a limit on it so I asked if I could use it as well as the coupon I copied from the link you posted since I lived so far away. She said she would have to check and came back and said no. So instead of her getting reimbursed for 2 bags and selling 1 bag to me she will only get reimbursed for the one bag....her loss. I will go to Memphis where there are 4 pet stores there that sell the NV and use 4 coupons and get 8 bags.....shhhhhhhhhhhhhh;)

I only remove the skin for dogs who are on the chubby side :p

You can feed raw meaty bones such as lamb, chicken, turkey and rabbit ones, these are all soft enough for them to eat and get a jaw work out from. Just make sure they are raw and meaty :D

Ok, this little pig of mine is wanting to eat in between meals. She has two medallions in the morning and two in the evening....keep in mind this is double what is recommended. But she is looking at me with them big brown...ok, them beady, eyes pleading for more. I have read all about how mixing this and that can cause upset due to differences in digestion. I realize not to feed any grains but what can you feed to tide them over? I hope cheese is ok cause I caved and gave her 1/2 slice (kraft singles) a bit ago...figured it did not have grain! She used to enjoy cottage cheese up until I started the raw just a few days ago and now she does not even want that. She is not a fruit or veggie eater unless it is ground up in her food and there is no other way around it.

So, ladies, in all your wisdom, what do you suggest? I am going to store later to buy chicken wings, necks and anything else that I can find hoping that this will help.

Its normal for her to want to eat lots at first, she is loving her new RAW food :)

You will get differing opinions between raw feeders on the issue of treats. Dried meats and fish are good. You can get grain free treats. TBH I personally have given the occasional treat with grains in it, as long as it is all natural and they have always been fine with that.

Thank you all so much for holding my hand and walking me through this, unfortunately in my immediate area there are no pet stores that carry any RAW related diets....look at you with a look of horrid shock when you ask about it! I would love to be in a financial position to open a pet shop that catered to the knowledgable pet owner that wanted only the best for their pets. One that only sold the top of the line foods and products....ha, but in MS? Oh well, it is a nice dream.

You're most WELCOME! Hey...someone held our hands. I couldn't have made the leap without some very caring, knowledgeable people who are quite serious about educating others re prey model feeding. And, I most probably wouldn't have my Mozart with me, today. Now, when you get comfy with this and see the change in your pets, you will pass the word. People who feel passionately about something just can't keep inside :D.

I don't really give Lacy a lot of treats. If I do give her treats, they are normally grain-free treats. There are some dried pork liver treats that I give her and also Wellness Pure Rewards. Very rarely she'll get treats with grains in them...but I make sure they've been spaced out from her feedings. Of course, she'll also occasionally get a bite of what I'm eating...just can't resist those eyes
