Now I'm really P***ed!! after noticing the sores on Zoey, I was checking out all my other dogs and noticed something else. Dixie (Dachshund), that I got not even a week ago, had a few little bumps on her when I got her. The lady said she must have been bittin by something and it was going away, also she said she cleaned her ears out with Peroxide. You don't clean a dogs ears with Peroxide. Well, her bumps on her rear have puss coming out of them. they are very small and two-three of them, I went and got the vet records she gave me for Dixie and read all threw them. She had a vet exam and rabies shot on March 3, 2005. The lady said she just took her to the vet, so when I first read the papers I thought they were for this year. Only 3 months ago. well on her report for the exam some boxes were checked off, one for lesions and another for ear discharge. Now I'm pissed. So I call that vet. Your not going to beleive this, the same one for Zoey, Banfeild Pet Hospital, in Charlotte. The nurse said that they only gave her a rabies shot and the lady refused an ear swab on Dixie. This means these problems have been going on for over a year!!!!! I called her and she said no they haven't, that the box is checked off because she had a little bump on her side. Bull Crap! What the heck is wrong with these people? I've got to go, I'm taking both of them to my vet this afternoon. I'll find out what's wrong. I know that vet must think I'm crap for calling about two dogs in one day that I just got, but these dogs came that way!! |
How did you happen to get 2 different dogs from the same lady?...is she a breeder or just was getting rid of the dogs..I am sorry you may have explained this before..and I didn't read this BUT this is complete insanity who does that to animals???...you are a good person..and keep us posted!!! |
Poor babies - now they have a GOOD mom who's taking care of them - I wonder what it could be too - I have a cocker and have never seen bumps in her ears and they get terrible ear problems - GOOD LUCK - and can you let us know what the vet says ? Hope it's minor and they get the itchies gone quick ! |

well, Dixie and Zoey are fine. the vet said Zoey probably has allegeries to her food, since I changed it. I put her back on her previous food and the vet prescribed Histacalm shampoo for Zoey. and the sore on her head is already about gone. Dixie, didn't look as bad today as yesterday since, the two bumps pooped and was healing up, the vet prescribed her some antibotics and a shampoo called Malaseb. Both need to be bathed 3 times a week for 4 weeks and then once a week there after. Oh yeah, Dixie has ear mites, so i got medicine for that too. I beleive these things will be easy to clear up with a little time. I still could have been told these things before I got them. |
I'm sorry you are going through all of this! But I am sooo glad its nothing "major"! Can I just say three baths a week for a month??? Someone would be getting a puppy cut in my house! You are a wonderful mommy and I am so glad those little babies ended up with you! |
I'm happy to hear they are doing better. |
