recentley dignosed and i am so scared My little Yorkie was just diagnosed as having pancreas and liver diagnosed. Her vet said her pancreas wasn't producing enzymes to digest her food and that her kidneys were effected and on top of that she has a horrible time with her skin...she scratches constally. She is on an antibiotic and wondering if that is causing her to scratch even more. I noticed to day she has dime sized, raised places on her skin (2 of them) i just feel like i have tried everything and done what her doctor has told me to do and I am just scared. Just found this site today and excited to see if anyone has any suggestions. Thank you |
Welcome to YorkieTalk. Do you have an exact diagnosis. That would help everyone a lot. What levels are elevated or too low on bloodwork? |
Little Bit...my heart just that her pancres and kidneys arent working the way they should be she is one the following meds..metronidazole, acetylator, metoclopramide and pepcid and all but one are in poweder or pill form and its so hard to get her to take them...she doesnt eat often and its hard to HIDE the poweder and the pills in her food, she picks them out. i feel as if i am losing her. i have spent at least $2,000 on vet and meds for her in the past month. it started out that she has horrible dirreaha, that has gotten a little better. |
.............in simple terms, raw meat has the enzymes needed to partially digest the food when it is in their stomachs.........then the food moves on to the duodendum where the pancreas finishes the job of digestion by producing enzymes.............with cooked meat or kibble the enzymes that were present in the meat when it was raw are destroyed.....so there is no proper digestion in the stomach and when the food gets to the duodendum the pancreas has a much bigger job to do by providing enzymes that are absent in the food.....eventually they cannot keep up.............this leads to kidney problems and other problems including skin....remedy............check out all the threads on the raw diet here and go to the sites suggested......if your pup is in a dire situation there are holistic vets and even members on YT who can provide quality enzyme supplements until you get him adjusted to a proper diet..........this situation is very fixable......all the best to you |
