Marcel's "Manhood" wouldn't retract this morning.... Well, I thought he was just *really* glad to see me, but then I noticed it was staying partially out, and that it looked rather bulbous. My hubby and I kept checking it as we were getting ready for work - still the same for over an hour. So, I decided to take him to work in case I'd need to take him to the vets at 9am...but sure enough...during the ride to work it was retracting and by the time I got him to work, it was back in! While it was "out", I palpated the area and it did seem rather hard (the part/area that was still "inside"); I did massage around the area to try to relax it and get it to move back in - and it did retract a touch, but not much. Any thoughts on why this might have happened? (he's neutered, as of 4 wks ago) |
:) That happens with Scooter sometimes too. I just put some water on it to lubricate it and it will go back in. Can you believe the things we discuss here? |
Bless your hearts. I have no idea, but I wanted to let you know that I'm curious what happened as well. Maybe someone has an answer. Did you put any moisture on it such as water, vaseline or lubricant? I have heard that it can get "stuck" a little if it's dry. But I really have NO idea what I'm talking about! lol :) |

This has happened to Bruiser before and I don't think I handled it right. I tried to get him to relax but nothing was working. Sooo....I put him in the tub with the shower on for a few minutes. He looked so pitiful standing there in the shower looking up at me. It had gone down and away within a few minutes. I felt like a terrible mom afterwards. Now when it happens, my hubby tells Bruiser "You better put that away before mommy puts you in the shower again!" LOL:D |
Sometimes it just happens, a little ky jelly on the end usually helps it slide back in. |

Ditto on the Ky or try sugar. Is the hair at the tip very long? If the hair gets too long, it can get caught and prevent it from going back in. If it was out for very long, then it is probably red and irritated right now and might be sore. Your vet can give you some ointment to put on it to help it heal and help with the soreness. lol sometimes this just happens. The bulbous part you felt was probably the knot that is used to keep the penis inside the female when they tie. Lots of people get confused/scared when they see this. its ok. if its out for a long time put some type of lubricant on it so it goes back in easier. It dries out and gets sore when out to long and then won't go back in on its own. (the only reason i know this is by being a vet tech, otherwise i'd be just as confused as you ) |
