Allergy food question... I have a question about allergy foods. If you feed one of your dogs a limited ingredient food specific for allergies (like Natural Balance Duck and Potato) and your other 'normal' dog eats the same food is the second dog being deprived of something they may need nutritionally? I need to feed Jo a food for allergies but I also need to make sure Riley is getting everything he needs. Is the NB duck & potato a nutritionally complete food for all dogs? |

If the food has the AAFCO seal on it (and no I am not a fan of them;) ) it should be fine for all dogs as long as they are both adults. |

I just saw that this food is suitable for puppies too. I think it's fine. |

Thank you. There is so much food information out there that it's hard to decifer it all. I just want to make sure both of my boyz get what they need. |

Tell me about it. I finally decided on homecooking and a nutritionist. I think you feeding that to both dogs would be the equivalent of someone feeding California Naturals to a dog with allergies and one without. It is good for allegies because it only has one protein and one carb source but that is fine for a dog without problems also. |

Well, almost all "allergy foods" (single protein/carb) are lower in protein - so that could be a concern. If it were me, I'd supplement the allergy kibble using the SAME protein as in the kibble (i.e., if it was fish/potato, I'd add in extra fish). |

:aimeeyork I've had ZheZhe on Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe for about three months now. She had awful allergies. It has definately made a difference with her. I also give her Missing Link and this has also made a super big difference. I was feeling the same way, of not knowing if she was getting enough nutrients or not. Then as her treats she gets carrots and apples. I'm really satisfied with the Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe. p.wolfkill |
