Eukanuba dog food The vet recommended the Eukanuba dog food for my puppy. He is 5 months so he is still eating the puppy kind. He hasn't had any poop problems with this dog food. I read a thread about this dog food not being healthy for dogs. I was planning on keeping Riley on this brand of food basically is whole life because I was told it was "great" Now I'm worried sick about him eating it and I'm afraid if I change his food while hes so young it will upset his tummy. |
We feed Eukanuba. Everyone here has different opinions on what to feed your dog. Ours have been on it for 2 years and don't have any problems with it. They do poop more than when they are on homecooked though. Trust your vet. |
all of mine have thrived on it and had no problems at all, unless that is what is causing the excessive eye goobers most of them have. In fact, it is the only food they eat. i keep them all on small breed puppy because they are breeders. As the other poster mentioned, there are going to be people on here to tell you that it is not good for your dog. pay no mind. Do what your vet says and what works for you and your dogs. |
I had my furbutts on it for a couple months and we had no problems:) I swithed only because having 4 babies i was always buying food, I gradully switched them over to the big bags of royal caine, and that is working well to. |
I wouldn't feed it to my dog, but I wouldn't feed any kibble to my dog. I think there are a lot better brands of kibble out there though. Most vets don't know much about nutrition - I'm in vet school now and know I won't be learning anything about it other than what the Hills and Purina reps tell us. |
I would not feed EUK/IAMS at all - it is very poor quality, tons of fillers/allergens. And, keep in mind that IAMS was BUSTED FOR CRUEL ANIMAL TESTING. Ick. Personally, I find that most vets know very, VERY little about nutrition options - probably bc they simply don't have the time to keep up with it. I recommend doing your own research and be the advocate for your dog's nutrition. Feeding lower quality foods can actually result in higher vet bills - just read those posts about people's dogs who are suffering terribly from allergies. Read about EUK here, this is the one you're feeding (it's rated 1 star): http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...ct=116&cat=all Good foods are: Canidae, Orijen, Evangers, Wellness, California Natural, Timberwolf, Innova. Good luck w/ your baby! |

Also....Iams products tested positive for Phenobarbitol. When I was working for a pet store we recieved the test results and many foods had it in it but under a certains amount is acceptable  Now how in the world could ANY amount be okay??? ugggg and how is it getting in there??? Unthinkable..... It could all be changed and fine now this was 5 years ago but scary to me... |
good stuff Ill give a bump with my 2 cents on euk for anyone out there with questions. I have my yorkie on euk and the only problem i had was getting him started on it. now he eats it when i feed him 3 times a day. he has a healthy coat and is almost a year old come early spring with no health problems to date. He has tons of energy and is extremely playful. Of course he takes his naps every so often but thats normal. Im sorry to all the people on this forum but you could feed your dog french fries and they'd be just fine. Its great to treat your dog with all the love you can give it but sometimes taking it too far and pressing it on others is just something that needs to stop. suggestions are great but links to subpar research and negative feedback based on the simple fact that this guy you knew's sister's brother in law's grandma's yorkie coughed once while on euk is just irresponsible. euk is fine, it works for thousands and thousands of dog owners. i just recommend you find a food and stick with it, if you dog has allergic reactions to the food, then you can switch. your dog will eat it and grow to like it if he doesnt. i hated peas growing up but now i love them. apply simple logic to your decisions and i wish you all the best of luck. love yogisdad |
most vets reccomend science diet though because that what they sale |

Also, I haven't seen anyone on here force their opinions based upon "negative feedback based on the simple fact that this guy you knew's sister's brother in law's grandma's yorkie coughed once "...... |
