Moustache Hair isnt growing!

Abby'd hair is growing everywhere....... except the moustache area!!!!!!

Is that normal?? I've never heard of it!!

Here's a pic if you can tell.

I think it grows a little slower. At least with the two yorkies I've had, it did. Abby's facial hair in her pic looks a lot like Coby's.

Not unusual for pet pups.....reason why, they play with toys, chew chewies, rub their faces.

drinking water out of a dish also breaks the hair around the muzzle too...

Thanks Kim. I guess I take it for granted that I have water bottles for my kids and once long enough I begin to band their facial furnishings to keep them from chewing on them and keep them clean.

How old is your puppy?
From the pics her mustache doesn't appear to be broken/dry or brittle. Looks like she has nice silk and beautiful gold too. :)
Some lines do tend to grow a little slower in that area.
She is a doll baby.

She is almost 6 months old. and thanks for the compliments :)

her hair doesnt look to me like its breaking either. I just thought it was a little wierd though, b/c I would say her hair is about 3 inches long yet her moustache hair is only about 1/4 inch. Thanks for the replies everyone ;)

My kids hair doesn't grow as fast on their faces as it does on their bodies, and oh those hairy ears.

I LOVE the ears also :D When I first got Abby her ears were waaay to big for her. It was the cutest thing! But now she's pretty much grown into them:( but i still love the furriness of them!! Here's a pic taken the first day I got her.

Have you tried putting the moustache in cracker papers with oil underneath this will stop the hair breaking and I would suggest that you do not give chews or toys to chew. If you need help with what to use in the way of conditioner I would be glad to tell you whst I have found useful.

how could i not give her chew toys? she constantly has one in her mouth, lol.

And yes, what kind of conditioner do you use?

I use Satin Cream by Vellus Products which can be obtained from Hub International their website is www.hubint.com and this has been very helpful in increasing the growth of the moustache on my two yorkies. You can actually use it on all the coat to help growth and although it seems thick it does absorb into the coat very easily and washes out easily, it just looks a bit greasy at the time but if the coat is wrapped in papers you will not even notice it.
