Best Shampoo/Cond. for my Yorkie??? Please Help!! My yorkie's coat has always been thin, each strain of hair is really thin and frizzy. Her mom's coat looked the same way so it is genetic! Is there any kind of treatment, conditioner, shampoo that well help her coat become more thick and shinny instead of being so thin, frizzy and unhealthy looking. I use petland premium shampoo and I also use Durrstede shampoo and conditioner which is really expensive! Any help or advice would be great! |
I use Minksheen shampoo and pantene conditioner. Here is a link to the Minksheen http://www.touchofmink.com/prod_details.asp?id=15 Oh by the way if you want to try the shampoo out before buying it just go to the site and request a sample |
I use Johnson & Johnsons baby shampoo, and detangler, and it works really well. |
I use baby shampoo or baby wash for Gracie's face and around her eyes, and use mink sheen shampoo on the rest of her. I don't use conditioner. I just let the mink sheen sit on Gracie for 2-3 minutes before rinsing. I will use a dab of Cowboy Magic detangler if needed. |

I was just talking about breaking and damaged hair to a breeder yesterday who frequents a forum that is all about showing and care of coats. They recommend almond oil rubbed into the hair and body. Just tried it on Sissy today. She looks a little greasy at the moment, but immediate difference in the look of her hair. |
1 Attachment(s) This is a picture of Mandy since I started using Nu-salt Shampoo and Relief conditioner. She was busy surfing Yorkie Talk and really didn't want to be bothered but I snapped a quick picture. |
I use pantene, i've tried alot and it seems to work best. I can't try minksheen as its not available here. |
I don't think you can change the type of coat with any type of shampoo. Just use a good shampoo and conditioner that isn't drying. You could give her a hot oil treatment once a month which seems to be really good for their coat. |
We started using Pet Silk about 6 - 9 months ago and have noticed quite an improvement on the silkiness and softness of our dogs coats. The conditioner helps the most and then they also have a serum called Liquid Silk for finishing that is soo wonderful. Highly recommend it. Its sold online and then a lot of the smaller pet boutiques will carried it also. Good luck! |
