How long can you keep the puppy cut? O.k....my husband is want to know if you can keep the puppy cut on your yorkie even when it's an adult? If so, can someone show me some pics of it??? I want to at least have enough for a topknot, but puppy cut everywhere else...make sense? Is it do-able? |
lots of older dogs still have a puppy cut. i dont have any pics because my yorkie with a puppy cut is still a puppy, but he'll have a puppy cut probably forever. you can also leave the topknot if thats what you prefer. just be sure to tell them thats what you want it because everyone has their own idea of whats normal for a puppy cut. |
4 Attachment(s) Oh yes, definitely! My Stedman stays in a puppy cut (well on the face that is...usually the hair on his body stays a little longer, except for now, I just cut him way too short a few weeks ago ). Stedman is a little over a year and 1/2 old. Here are some pics that I posted of him earlier. |
Steadman is one of the most handsome boys I've ever seen! Lucy is 6 months and I love her in a puppy cut and will likely keep her on the short side. So easy to take care of! |
3 Attachment(s) The shorter the better for my cotton-coated terror. I'm not much of a groomer in the first place, but when the snow flies short hair is much easier to take care of. |
To each his own... Its whatever ur preference is... Meka is 6mo. now and I just cut her hair really low... but kept her ponytail up top... |
4 Attachment(s) I keep mine both in a puppy cut because we live in Florida and it is so hot here all the time. Since you want a top knot here are pictures of Mia so you can get an idea. Hope this helps and we can not wait to see pictures once you do it!! Last one is of my boy Murphy - no top knot for him. |
Loki has always and will always be in a puppy cut. His hair is THICK. I keep his face short too. Sammy is going to get one soon... |
Emma has a cotton coat, and has longer hair on her face and head for ponytails. You can see her in my avatar, as well as in this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92239 It's much easier to take care of than a long coat on her. |
2 Attachment(s) Here's Chewy. He wears a topknot a lot, and his hair on top is still pretty short. If I take the topknot down, he can still see. Even when it's short, you can still get a little in a topknot if you use a small rubber band, bows are a little harder to get in. :) |
My mom keeps me in a puppy cut all year round, I have a whole closet of sweaters and coats. We live in Maine. I do love the snow:rolleyes: Mom has a hard time getting it off my long hair:mad: , so I like my puppy cut:p |
I have Cozy's body and neck cut into a puppy cut but leave the hair on her face longer. I love putting bows in her hair so her face can't be cut into a puppy cut. Tell the groomer what you want done and they will do it. A puppy cut is so much less work than a full length cut. Grooming is a snap a quick brush, a new bow and you are done. I tried keeping Cozy in a long coat but she was forever getting things stuck in it and getting it tangled. |
Steadman and all the puppies pictured in this post are so cute. This is just how I want my Rowdy to look when he's their age. He's six months now and just had his first grooming. He has a top knot but his hair is changing so much, seems like everyday. I just think Yorkies are wonderful!!! |
I love all these pictures of your babies in the puppy cuts! Too cute. I can't wait for Bella's hair to get long enough to put a top knot in! :) |
Pipers 4 years old and still wears a puppy cut. I'm trying to let Penny's hair grow out. I accidentally cut off her topknot (whoops), because her rubberband got stuck in her hair. |
