His hair always comes out! :-( I'm having a hard time with knots with my baby. His hair is fine on top, but underneath he has bad knots. When I try to brush or comb him, lots of his hair comes out. :-( Hes only 13 weeks so I don't know if its healthy to lose his hair. I'm not sure if this is normal or I'm brushing him wrong. |
Perhaps you should try a spray-on detangler when you brush him. I read somewhere that when you brush a Yorkie's coat it should be a little damp and a detangler would help loosen up the knots or mats. |
I usually give my dog a bath with this shampoo called LaPooch which is great and then I spray on this no tears detangler for kids that I picked up at the gorcery store. It works great on my Tinkerbells hair. She does not like being sprayed, but she does not mind being brushed what so ever anymore when using it. Thought this might help. |
Dont brush or comb the hair when it is dry. Put a detangler on it |
;) AND, could be loosing puppy hair (which you will be glad he is loosing, because it is the fur that causes more trouble)... Just be sure you are not pulling when you brush, or try to use the fingers to detangle... Be sure to use missing link or something similar, that helped tons on my two dogs coat! |

Does that mean to put detangler on every day? I don't put anything on Lucy except when bathing. She gets a brush and comb every day. |
Use detangler or conditioner on his hair when you're trying to brush it out. Just rub the conditioner in his dry hair and then massage it. Then gently brush and the mats will come out. |
Mardelin & tegamom recommended emu oil or almond oil and I have been using that on Zoe for about a week now. It's amazing! Almost no knots at all, maybe a little one but if so it comes out so easily. I apply it after I shampoo & condition & rinse and do a final rinse with a capful of the emu oil in a cup of water. Her hair does look a little greasy though but it's worth it! |

Her whole body is cottony but her head is silky... She looks sort of off balance.. But of course she still looks cute!:D So I guess her body will eventually change so that's all of it's silkier? |
