Good way to loosen eye gunk Marcel gets gunky/crusty at times - and it's difficult to remove when the gunk hardens. Well, I thought I'd try his "finger toothbrush" one day - and it worked really nicely! I dip it in warm water and "brush" near his eye and it really loosens the gunk. And, bc the brush is low-profile, soft, and small - I'm not worried about the brush hurting his eye. The brush looks something like this (mine is a bit different): http://images.1800petmeds.com/images...0/1011_420.jpg |
Thanks for that tip! I am definitely going to try it next time. That gunk is almost impossible to get out. |
Thank you for that info.! :thumbs up |
:yay_jump: Thanks for the great tip, I am going to give it a try! |
What a good idea. I wonder if a child sized tooth brush would work too. I use a tear free baby wash on a wash cloth to soften and a fine tooth comb, but this sounds easier. |
     great Idea:) |
  thank you, thank you, I have been trying so many things that dont work, i usauly end up with a warm wash cloth, and i have 4 to do so its time consuming, and they hate it:( im going to get one today:D |
:D  Good Idea! A baby brush works too. .. |
Thanks for the tips about removing the matter from their eyes. I have been using a warm wash cloth and Zachary gets impatient before I get finished. I will definitely be getting one. :aimeeyork |
Have you tried changing his drinking water to Distilled Water? Really helps alot. |
On another thread, someone mentioned eye envy. Does it work? I also use the washcloth/baby shampoo thing, but I'll be buying a baby toothbrush tomorrow. |
Hey, that's a great idea! I've got a couple of those that I don't use for a toothbrush anyhow! I'm gonna give that a try....better than using a washcloth that gets Max's entire face wet! |

Thanks for the info!!! I am confused also. My dogs have never had tap water. I normally use the filtered water from my refrigerator or bottled spring water. I heard on this forum & from a groomer that Distilled Water has no minerals & that it will help with the eye gunk. I have been trying it out for a few weeks. I guess we are back to the filtered water now. Thank You so Much for your Husbands valuable information. |
I've heard about natural cider vinegar in the drinking water, but others say it doesn't work. There's a product called Angel Eyes that's supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it yet. |
