Ok I have a question. Being a 1st time owner of a yorkie I don't wanna "mess" him up so to speak. U know many ppl raise, feed, groom etc differently but...anyways. Do they or don't they have undercoats? My cousin has a yorkie and she bought a Sergent's special brush that has detangler on one side and undercoat brush on other. The detangler wasn't working well eventho she used it after bathe as indicated so she tried the undercoat one and it dematted her great. Should she have used it or did she mess up her coat? If so will it fix? Thanks |
Pet Grooming Tips Well Pet grooming sometime become a bit tedious task, when we don't have proper knowledge how to handle the pet or how to grooming pets.here i am disclosing some of tips which gonna help you lot:- Trimming of Nails:-Pet's nails should be regularly trimmed and especially of cats as they have a scratching habit. When trimming the nails, be careful not to cut them too short and cause bleeding. Cut the nails until you see a dark circle appearing in the center of the nail. Brushing:-Before bathing ,the pets need to be brushed out to make sure there are no knots in the furnishings. Knots are big problem in cats and dogs. Brush the beard, legs and underskirt to make sure there are no knots using the Pin Brush. Bathing:-Cats need to be bathed not more than once a month. While bathing make sure that the temperature of the water is not too hot. Be careful not to get water and shampoo in the ears, eyes and mouth when bathing the pet. |

After checking the grooming section on here and asking questions I bought a Madan pin brush from Toplinepet.com. Jenny, the owner is a member here and she is very helpful on which pin brush you need depending on your Yorkie's coat. But, you should ALWAYS get the tangles and mats out of your Yorkie before bathing. The Yorkie is a single coated dog, there is no undercoat. |

This PDF is lifted directly from the book, "Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies". I prefer a book, so I picked it up used on Amazon for around $4. Seems like some nice info, and I wanted to mention this in case anyone had a desire for the complete book. |
