Eyes and Ears....
 
How do you trim the ears? Also how do you trim between the eyes? Pictures would be great!!!! Thanks!

First off I wouldn't trim around the eyes or the nose. Let those grow normally. As for the ears, you need a clipper that can shave the hair on both sides of the ears to 1/3 down and make a clean cut on the tips.

hey there...I have some shots from a few years ago.....I agree you shouldn't trim the eyes - but I DO ....only a TINY bit though as it sticks into my girls eyes and interfers with their spy duties...:D

I LOVE the wahl trimmer for the ears and bootie....and then the tiny 1/4 head trimmer & A personal trimmer from Sallys Beauty supply for those wild hairs near the eyes...here's some pics I took one day when grooming her

And...here's Cheri right after I did her ears - I may have shaved a bit too far but ususally do the TOP third of the ear - Inside the ear and the back of ears

LOL You're welcome !! That was probably the best I've done on Chanels face...Now I dont trim so much and did try to let that hair grow out but it always sticks out so I'm thinking of doing it again - I just like to see their gorgeous eyes and if there's too much hair...it blocks their vision and has to be annoying.....so I may be getting out the trimmers again. Both my girls need a good cut

ps...the ears are VERY EASY to do - shave UP and never go against the edge of the ear or you can gouge them - so shave against the FLAT part of the ear - you can hold it against your thumb and just a few swipes and viola - pretty trimmed ears !

Hey Ms V!!! Have you always done your own grooming??? what's the best way to get started?? Trial and Error or a good book on grooming???? :) but most important how do you get them to stay still long enough @ 7 months we still fight washing the face everyday and doing our daily brushing and combing which is cool til we get to the face!! I got to get the bangs under control cause I would love to see my furbaby eyes too!! :)

So do you trim right between the eyes and a little on the nose?

hey - just answered you on the other thread but yes...I like the look and try to only take off a tiny bit in the corners of the eyes. I don't trim as much on the upper nose area as I used to - but when the hair in the eyes gets too much I just buzz a little off and you can't believe how much it opens their little faces up.

No...I tried 5 groomers and always hated leaving them with strangers though one was very nice....there was one that was plain too rough and that was the end for me. I made the decision to try and I'm far from good at it but at least I know what's been done and if I make a mistake I can only blame myself. It sucks to pay someone upwards of 60-75 $ (for 2 yorkies) only to be dissapointed.

Cheri hardly needs much grooming but I'm always doing Chanel and my trick is to take my time...talk to her alot - KISS her every 3 minutes :D :D and be firm but make it fun. She sits pretty well and lets me know when she's had enough. Lots of praise and patience....

IF you have a wiggler - it helps if you have someone hold them while you work and try to start off with just a few things at a time...Like one day do ears - another day - feet...another day nails - it's tedius but works for me.

I know lots of people would cringe at cutting their facial furnishings but my girls are in and out all the time and I just want them to SEE where they're going...its not like we 'show' or anything lol - we just SPY ! :D and I love looking into those gorgeous chocolate eyes

aww your girls are so pretty, i love lookin at them :)
as for doing a little each day...me and hubby started cutting max's hair today, he was fine, sat there while we did his paws, legs, body but when we started under his neck or went towards his face he got squirmy, so we are saving that for another day....after him we will attempt the yorkies lol....would save me alot of money with 3...i will post pics after he is done......
im glad i saw these pics so i can use them to do faces :) thanks again :)

Pictures are great. Just getting my little ones big enough to think about total grooming. Want to do it myself as well. They are two different types of coats so I will need to look at lots of pictures to get an idea of what needs to be done. These are so helpful.

You're so right - Grooming yourself saves money AND it's less stressful on the dogs - I used to hate taking mine in and seeing them in the cages....The last time I took them together - Cheri CRIED her heart out :( when they worked on Chanel and they had to put her in the back so she couldn\'t see....they were very nice but still - that bothered me

even funnier is after I paid for Cheri I noticed they hardly did a thing....
