coloring yorkie hair with food coloring?
 
I was wondering is it possible to color yorkie hair with food dye? i know people do it on human hair and it works if the hair is blonde, but how about for dogs? has anyone heard of it or done it? It seems like it is harmless but i just wanted to make sure

I am not being mean or anything but why would you want to color your dogs hair....I think it would be safe, just curious thats all....:D

I havent seen it done on Yorkies but I know people that die their white Poodles all the time for the holidays.

My groomer refuses to do it (yay for him!) but there is one in town that advertises it!

There are safe ways to color pet hair. It's actually illegal in some states though. I will try to attach a cute picture I ran across.

there are dyes made just for pets and i dont see anything wrong with it i wanted to do mine for halloween but food colour didnt soak in or work i say go ahead and do it if you want its your pet as long as you use a pet safe non toxic dye that wont make them sick if they lick at it

I've heard of people using koolaid packets to dye dogs. I'm not sure how long it lasts though, or if it will rub off on your carpet or furniture.

Yeah, you can use Kool-Aid. I'm not sure about food coloring, I know some Yorkies have allergic skin reactions to some of the additives in food coloring, so you might want to do a tiny test patch to make sure!

Last 4th of July I saw someone with a white dog that had painted a flag on each side of the dog, so I was curious as to what they used and I ask. It was kool-aid, but I didn't ask how it was mixed. (the recipe)

I used to dye my hair crazy colors in high school ;) I guess that means I'm good to go

Hmmmm...I have only seen white dogs "colored", but you never know.
I would ask a groomer or vet....I am sure there are dog related dyes out there....there are whitening and darkening shampoos.....so there must be other items.

BTW....anyone try any darkening shampoos??? Or something to bring back the black??
