I need you to recomend me a conditioner..... for my babies. More than something for the bath I need something that I can spray before brushing their fur. you know you are not supposed to brush them dry? Well I spray them with water and then brush but still is so difficult. Can I put some kind of conditioner to the water so that I can brush them easier? THanks! Eri |
Try getting a grooming spray with a detangler. I use cowboy magic leave-in conditioner and detangler on Cozy for really tough notes on her legs. You could also try Mane'n'Tail conditioner with some water. It was made for horse but can safety be used on other animals and people. I will sometime give Cozy a conditioning rinse but not a full bath. If some of the conditioner is left behind I do not worry about it because it can be used as a tradional wash out conditioner or a leave-in conditioner as well. A friend of mine uses Infusioum 23 (spelling may be off) on her maltese-yorkie mixes. It is a human live in-conditioner that she put into a spray bottle and then sprays on to her dogs before she groomes them. Good luck with your conditioner quest. |

Coat Handler anti-static detangling spray is awesome! You could try that one :) |
Chris Christensen makes a good one called Ice On Ice |
I found it at the local Feed Store in the Horse section. |

where did you get your cowboy magic? I am looking for this one. |
How do you use your Cowboy Magic as a brushing aid?:) |
Just use about a dime size, rub hands together, then run your fingers threw their hair, Comb hair. |
I will also recommend the Cowboy Magic! Somebody on this board recommended it when we got our first Yorkie a year & a half ago... I found it at the feed store, in the horse section. A tube will last a long time. It is a concentrated detangler & shine. "Repairs, strengthens, maintains" it says. They also have a website: cowboymagic.com |
I'm recently converted to Cowboy Magic. Use as little as possible or it will make your pups look greasy ... I don't even use a dimes worth ... maybe half that and I have bigger Yorkies. I only use it when I bath them and I put it into the damp hair. I find it helps prevent tangles and when I do brush them I don't need to use a detangler first (if I'm using a soft brush). I remember reading in one Yorkie grooming book that a little bit of human conditioner with lots of water in a spray bottle was a perfectly good detangler ... but I never tried it. |
Now that spray bottle idea might be a great idea. I think I will try it out. Thanks for mentioning it, Ditsy! |
I dunno...after trying Minksheen shampoo that doesn't require a conditioner with it...i am hooked...so no more conditioner for Tootsie...her hair is so silky and shiny... |
I use Chris Christensen Ice on Ice for the everyday combing/brushing and I love it. It makes their coats so soft and shiney but not greasy. |
