How to handle grooming a SOFT coated yorkies face I have 2 soft coat Yorkies that the breeder has in a kennel clip. It is vey short and my babies look like little lions in the face with all the hair puffed out. HELP what do I need to do to get them looking like yorkies again? |
Let the hair on the face and body grow out. THe face hair is easy to comb since it doesn't mat, but make sure it's brushed daily along with the rest of the body. |
2 Attachment(s) I have a Lion Face too! TJ has the same type of hair. I actually love it! He looks so cute and always looks like he is smiling at you. :) P.S. The ONLY thing I don't like about his hair is that it makes him look fat - and he is not...hahahahaha  |
There are some silicone based products that will weigh down the existing hair and make it fall better until some growth can be obtained...I have a 8 month old that has the same type on his face and I use a human product that I've always used on them, its Bed Heads "After Party". Only about a pea size for the face. |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...7&d=1174157476 maybe this will work??? |
SOLD! I am getting this stuff tonight. Tomorrow is bath day! As you can see from the above pictures of TJ - his hair is wild - most of the time! I don't mind the curl he's got, but I just need to manage it a little better so he doesn't always look like a fat little piggy :p |
I would recommend keeping the body hair relatively short as with soft coats they mat too easily. The head you can trim up a bit to balance the look but you can also use thinning shears to thin out the bulky look of the soft coated face. Use them after you bath and dry not while it is still dirty as it dulls the shears. |

Sea Breeze Oil work great for that too. I have it for my big haired Yorkie!:) |
I have the sea breeze oil. I really didn't like the smell and maybe I put too much on, but they were really greasy. |
Try the smooth and silky shampoo and conditioner. Avon makes one and I would bet Pantene does. I saw an advert on TV yesterday for one can't remember the brand name though. |

Thanks Guys and Gals I needed all the info I could get. Sounds like the gel is like I use to use on my hair, " brilcream" I think it was called. Anyway I'll let the hair grow and keep it combed in the direction it needs to go. Thanks again for the info. Visit my web site and you can see my babie at www.bobbyblusyorkies.com . |

Sorry it took so long to answer - I just saw this. Here is one place to get it. www.plushpuppymidatlantic.com/StylinNFinish/seabreeze.html I know there are other places, too. I'm pretty sure someone on YT sells it on their site but now I can't remember who - sorry! |
