Shaving legs?
 
does anyone shave there yorkies legs to almost bald ?
im gonna be doing this to kayko since its a silkys standard thinking about doing it to brownie
if so please post pics :D

Lenora, I have never heard of this.......but I wanna see pics! I bet there is a cutie out there with nekked legs :D

HUH? I am confused...why shave the legs of a Silky or Yorkie, both have leg coat...? the dog will look very odd..

some silkys when showing them you shave like the poodle from the knee down

ive seen it done to yorkies

The AKC standard for silkies says: " Legs should have short hair from the pastern and hock joints to the feet. The feet should not be obscured by the leg furnishings. " -- not shaved but short.

That Yorks legs are not shaved..it has the type coat that grows slowly and the legs may or may not ever have long feathering...
That is a natural leg am sure...perhaps the owner trimmed the edges a bit, but not shaving..

A friend of mine had her male Yorkie cut down really short and he looked so long legged. She didn't like the look so is letting it grow back out.

Yeah, that is exactly what I'd be afraid of - the looooong legged look. I personally wouldn't do it, but that is just me :p And Kayko has such GORGEOUS hair (as does Brownie) :D If it were ME, I would honestly just leave them as is girl - they are soooo pretty :wub:

My boy had hardly any hair in his legs a few months ago........I didn't like it. NOw, he is growing some out and I am excited.......lol

I guess one way to see how it might look is by wetting all 4 legs down so the hair looks alot shorter and less compared to the dry body.
