Trimming the pee pee area I have given Max a few baths since we got him 3 weeks ago. He is 15 weeks and hasn't had all his shots yet, so the groomer is out of the question. My Question is, when he goes pee, his under hair is quite long so it gets really wet. I would like to trim it but he won't hold still. My girls were great at this age, I had no problems. I have turned on the trimmers & just laid them there so he could hear them running. I even got on the floor with them & did the girls bottom of their feet, so he could see how well they were with it. No luck, I tried sheers, but he wiggles so much I don't want to cut something off I shouldn't. (If you know what I mean) Does anyone have suggestions on a little boy who won't hold still? Thanks |
Lex was a bit scared when I had him as a baby as well. The only thing I could do was to just hold him and do it so that he realized that it wasn't something that would hurt him. After that he was good to go. |
Perhaps someone can hold him for you while you trim the area. That's the only thing I can think of. Buddy just lay's there spread eagle so I have no trouble with him. Once your baby gets used to it he'll probably be the same way. Carol & Buddy:aimeeyork |
i have the same problem. when kirby was old enough to go to the groomers, they scooped his underneath. wow what a difference. now he is ready for it again. i think the advise above to let someone else hold him is probably the best. when i brush kirby, i put a treat in a sock and tie it to a comb w a rubber band. i place it between my legs. he chews like crazy tring to get the treat out while i brush him and pull his hair up. maybe this might work. i haven't tried it. it just came to me.....maybe i will try this when cutting him. wow, i just gave myself some advise. |
sawyer hates that too; so I wait til he is asleep on my lap laying onhis back ( he loves that) and using scissors, I trim his little wee wee, and shorten the hair in the area. He sleeps right through it.:D |
Ferdinand won't let me get near his pee patch with the clippers. He did let me get near it when my bf was holding him last time, but only with the scissors so I didn't do a very good job. He desperately needs it trimmed again, so we're going to try this weekend. |

When I trim Finnigen's winky fur, he doesn't move a muscle. Almost as if he's thinking "damn better not move, she might miss and chop off my winky" LOL Shar-Lee & Finnigen |
Bear & Mac hate it, but I have to hold them down and do it, cause if I don't its a mess...so much easier on them and they stay cleaner a little longer...:) I also use the little trimmers not the big clippers it seems to help some....:) |
I have my groomer clean him up in that area when I go to get his nails trimmed and annus, paws, and ears trimmed up. The only trimming I do for Jaden myeslf is around his face. I don't trust anyone else to get it how I want it... |

I was told you should never use sissors in that imporant area.. the (JIMMY JOHN) Elec clippers should not cut your baby. I take the clippers to my forearm to check temp and cutting. if they are not cutting or hot to you they will not hurt your baby. However be carefull that you don't scrap burn the skin. You could cause a rash burn. If you are nervous about useing clippers . your baby will feel it to. Take a paper towel holder & glue cotton balls on it. Practice that way. it works pretty well.. If you cut to close to the paper holder OOP'S This well help you get comfrontable with elec clippers.. good luck |
