i have two questions one day i was grooming my male Sunnie and i was using one of thoes brushes that hare thin metal brissles and he developed a BIG red patch under his fur, was that caused by the brush? i stopped using that brush and it has never come back also he is 1 and 2 months old and his fur is medium length will it grow more? both his parents had this length but the breeder told me that they jsut had them groomed. so is there a possibility that he will grom long fur? I don't know if the brush caused the red patch, but it sounds possible (like a rug burn maybe). Sissy is almost 18 months old and her fur is just now shy of 1/2 way to the floor. Her hair seems to grow impossibly slow, but it is growing. Make sure you are using a quality shampoo and conditioner and some kind of conditioning spray inbetween baths to prevent mats and breakage and his fur should continue growing. Hope this helps. |
Brush the inside of your forearm with the brush using the same amount of pressure you used on your dog. Does it hurt and did it leave a rash? If so then yes you probably irritated your dogs skin with it. Brushes are not all created equal. A cheap brush has pins that are sharp and abrasive at the tips and can damage skin. The pins on better brushes are generally polished at the tips and much less likely to cause an abrasion. I'm not sure how old your yorkie is but if he is a yorkie than most likely his fur will grow longer. Yorkie's coats grow indefinitely like humans. |
