Have anyone used oil before? We took dylan to the groomers at pet smart and even though we read all of you all suggestions on hair coat oil we thought we would ask them just to see. Well they suggested that we put like a table spoon of vegetable oil in his food and that will turn his coat as well as his skin a better texture. Have anyone else tried this before or heard of it before. Just thought i would ask before hand. Dion |
I am going to be using Grizzly Salmon Oil. I have ordered it havent received it yet |
oh ok so some people do use oil, just depends on what kind |
I have used cod liver oil on the poodle before. |
One tablespoon of oil is pure nuts! Probably end up with the runs. Just give cod liver oil or fish oil once a day. (these are people vitamins) All dogs need omega fatty acids. |
I put a few drops of wheat germ oil in the water dish. I haven't been useing it long enough to tell you the benefits, but it hasn't caused any problems. I've been experimenting with so many different products lately that it can be hard to tell. Flax seed oil should be good also. |
1 cup of veggie oil is enough to give a 1000 pound horse the runs, you start them out at 1/4 and build up. So start small if you do give oil. It is full of fat and adds weight, great for some horses, but probably not for yorkies. Whitney |
Thanks whitney i appreciate that insight |

Hi, Yes, I did mean starting a horse with 1/4 cup. Whitney |
I give plain old vegetable oil to all the dogs here and have never had any problems with it at all. Plus it has ALWAY made thier coats better and skin softer . It worked great for any that came through with dandruff type skin. I'm not saying it will grow a SHOWCOAT OR ANYTHING. Just it made their skin way better and the hair a bit silkier. It usually takes about a month before you can really tell anything. |
You can order Linatone off dog.com which is fatty acids especially for dogs. Don't think I would trust vegetable oil either. I've used the Linatone for a while and it does make a big difference. |
1 tablespoon for a yorkie is way way way too much. I think 1/4 teaspoon would be closer to the right amount. I tablespoon would be the amount for like a 60 lb dog! |
