Help!! Nail Clipping How do you know how short to cut the nails?! I have a cat and his nails are white so I can see the vein which makes it easy to knwo where to cut. Cole's nails are black so I have no idea where to trim. Help!! |
Not sure, but goooood luck!!! Everytime I try to trim Bella's nails I screw up and she yelps and bleeds. She's at the point where she won't even let me cut them. :( |
Look closely in the daylight. There is different tone on the nail...the lighter black/grey is the quick, don't cut near it..the solid black is the nail. Good luck. |
I can never get it right either. Gracie has a naturally long quick in one nail, even the vet makes it bleed when she cuts it. I have given up. From now on, the groomer does it. She had no difficulty. It's only $5 for a nail trim! In the interim, I would suggest taking off just barely the tip. |
wow...$5 is realy a good deal! Here it is at least $15 just for nails! |
Yeah...I gave up on cutting Rosie's. I take her to the groomer too. She moves too much and screams even when it doesn't hurt:rolleyes: |

you all inspired me to try and cut Peeka's he needs it desperatly. I did it and he was so good!! I didn't cut very much but i tried it yay! |
Ugh! I am trying so hard. Cole keeps moving his paws and when I finally get a nail and put the clippers around it Cole cries before I even clip the nail!! What do I do?! |
hold Cole close to you and reach over him and cut his nails away from your body so you are criss crossing try that..for the most part that works because they are close to you. good luck |
One of mine doesn't like it at all either and I hold her, too. She hates the grooming table anyways... it works pretty well holding her on my lap - it's still not really easy cause she doesn't like it, but it works better than having her stand on a table. omega |
try soaking them Quote:
Good Luck! |
