Brush first ot bathe first I usually brush first, even though I had heard to never brush them when they are dry. I had also heard that getting them wet makes the tangles tighter. I normally get a fair amount of hair in the brush, which always upset me. Today I was distracted and forgot to brush first. I bathed with Best Shot Shampoo from Petedge, and used the same brand of conditioner. I towel dried, then sprayed with the Best Shot grooming spray. The tangles all came out much easier then brushing before their bath and I had very little hair in the brush when I was finished. From now on I am definitely bathing first. |
I usually brush first, then bathe...... I've tried bathing first but it just didn't work with Charlie's coat. It was harder to brush him out afterwards. Definitely do not bathe first it if the "tangle" is really a mat you want to work out. Water tightens the hair in the mat and then it would be even more impossible to get out... |
I usually comb Sadie first, then bathe, blow dry, and then brush after she's dried. |
I spray Peeka down with Miracle coat leave in and brush him first, I then bath him i use 2 diff types of shampoo and conditioner first cowboy magic and then i use groomax organic oatmeal shampoo and goldmedal plus conditioner i also brush when i put both conditioners on him to work it in then after i use the cowboy magic detangle and shine and spray more miracle coat and brush and blow dry |
I don't understand the "don't brush dry" theory. I brush my two daily and I sure am not bathing them that often. I haven't noticed any breakage....can anyone elaborate? What is the harm in brushing dry? Don't you all brush your dogs on a daily basis? |
Breakage will occur when you brush a dry dog. Period. But it could be minimal. And one should always brush their dog prior to a bath. If there are any mats, bathing them w/o removing them first will only make those mats tighter. Using a good detangling spray prior to bathing is a fabulous idea and is best for the coat. If you're not trying to grow a show coat, then don't worry about brushing your dog w/o using any products prior to bathing, unless they're terribly matted. |
i always brush after and all of the knots come out |

See this is what I am saying. contrary to what e have been told, I had less of a problem and less hair loss by not brushing before. A question for those of you who brush first. Have you ever tried doing it the other way? I just happened to do it today because I got distracted and forgot to brush first and found out it was actually better (for me anyway) |
If mine have bad matts I brush them while I have the condiitioner on them during their bath. Then after the bath I put Cowboy magic in and brush again. I never brush before the bath |
