Topknot Hair Too Short Is there any advice someone could offer for a puppy with hair that is too short for a topknot but fully in their eyes? I worry Ben cannot see well and we do see him occasionally swiping at it with his paw. I tried to put a tiny little clamp in but he kept shaking his head til it came loose. The hair is very thin and fine on top of his head. Is there a gel that would not bother their eyes if it got in there? I have 4 dogs and they are all chewing on each other all the time so I would worry the gel would wind up in someone's eyes. Anything to do about this 'tween stage? Or do I just wait it out til the hair is long enough to gather in a topknot? |
Ive heard of people on here using vaseline to keep the hair up. I quess you could also use a gel for Humans too if you could find one without alcohol in it. I wouldnt use anything with alcohol in it long term. You might also look at the petsilk site they have alot of products and might have what you are looking for |
I just looked and Petsilk does have a topknot gel. Here is the link http://www.glamourdog.com/petsilk.html |
Another thought - do they make hair gel for babies? Like Johnson's baby shampoo - that wouldn't sting eyes? |
Thanks for looking that up Chachi -- I will go to the link now! If anyone has used this and has a personal recommendation -- please chime in too. |

Sadie has a thinner coat....I can get her scrunchie in and it will stay in if Lillie (puppy) doesn't pull it out! Lillie has a thicker coat...her scrunchie would stay in all day if she didn't rub her head in the corner of the couch and get it out...I just tried a new conditioner...it made their hair very soft and silky...I am having a hard time keeping the scrunchies in now..how about those little elastics that are kind of like plastic? and you can just cut them out so they don't pull on the hair and break it...they are very cheap. I used one one these on Lillie and she couldn't have gotten it out for nothing! |
