Silly Questions Hi everyone, It seems most posters bathe either once / week or every-other week. Does anyone bathe their babies more often? I'm finding that Abbie looks like she needs a bath more often than once weekly, and I don't use oil on her - just silk shampoo and the sheen. Also, regarding hair growth. Her hair is to the floor from her shoulders; but still about 2 inches away at her belly. Will this area grow long, as well? Thanks, |
"Butt Baths" Shelby & Seymour get baths once a week...... but they get "butt baths" between their regular baths. We use Chris Christiansen bath supplies which seem to work quite well. I haven't yet tried Cowboy Magic, but hear that it works good, too. I do think that too many baths may not be good for their skin......... that's why we try to do these spot baths. Seymour's face and shoulder hair grew out MUCH quicker than the rest of his body...... his coat ended up really nice..... the sides grew out just fine. I would think that your furkids hair will probably do the same..... especially if the shoulder hair is growing long. :aimeeyork |
Ruby gets a bath as she needs one, which usually ends up being every 4 to 5 days. On the advice of a friend that shows - we never go over 7 days in between baths. After much experimenting the products I like best are Crown Royale - it doesn't weigh the hair down at all. |
Thanks much for the input. I, too, have been concerned about over-drying her skin; but, think I may need to go to the 5-day plan. And, though I read that silk coats grow paaaaaainfully slow. Guess I'm just anxious. Thanks :) |
Mojo has a silky coat and we are in the process of growing it back out (after a summer puppy cut) and it is takin FOREVER! We are currently using PetSilk and like it, but have heard that Crowne Royal is awesome - so we may be trying it. He goes to the groomer once a month, but we bathe at home about once a week. I too worry about over drying, so I use caution, but if you have a good shampoo/conditioner, I think it would be fine. There are some great "inbetween" bath products you can find that might work well too. We always wash his face/feet/behind when needed - no matter how often it has to be done. |
I have noticed that Maddie is needing a bath about every 5 days also. It didn't used to be that way, but seems lately she just looks scraggly after 5 days. I am interested to hear about the Crown Royale products. Of you that use it, what products do you use? I just did an internet search and there's lots of products listed. |
I use Pet Silk as well as Bo Derek's Bless the Beasts products but once I start running low on them, I am thinking of trying the Crown Royale products as I have heard many good things about it. I bath Toby once a week or he starts looking fugly (ugly was just too harsh a word). I use a mist of water and add a small amount of cowboy magic in a spray bottle for his daily brush. I also use it on my maltese.......works great and leaves them smelling wonderful!! |
I usually wash every week or two...I too worry about drying out there skin...in the summer they get baths every week but, in the winter I go a little longer...I don't want them to get sick...Sadie's coat is thinner...she has NEVER gotten a matt...and, it fells a little coarse...Lillies' coat is thick and soft...and it matts...If Lillie isn't bathed at least every week and a half she starts to look like a little grease ball! |
I started out with the Crown Royale finishing/grooming spray #1. It has a wonderful scent and worked so well, I wanted to try the other products. I was given as a Christmas gift the CR Biovite OB shampoo and love it too. I will be buying the conditioner now. What I like about the products is that #1 - they work, as they are suppose to and #2 - even after several days - Ruby's hair still looks good. The products don't weigh her hair down like so many others have a tendency to do. |

I didn't dilute them but may do that to stretch it further with all Chanels hair - she can go thru a sample bottle in one bath:D |
