Ear Cutting Hi I Dont Kow What To Call This But When I Got My Baby The Breeder Cut His Ears Or What Looked Like His Ear When I Got Him And She Said To Keep Up With It Once Every Few Months Or So, I Sked The Vet And He Said He Had Never Heard Of This So, What Exactly Is It, Or Is It Not Recommended? She Said She Did It To Keep The His Ears Up And Not Down From The Weight Of The Hair. Help Me Please, I Am Taking Him To Be Groomed Finally ( Got Second Series Of Shots) And I Just Wanted To Know, Thanks |
im guessing you are talking about shaving the top part of the ears? if so this is right. I did this w/ my baby! It just helps the hair doesnt weigh down the ears and make them fall! you groomer should know if they have dealt with yorkies before if not tell them it is also ear shaving not cutting lol that is a bigg difference lol and dont want you to make that mistake lol! Again ... it is just shaving about 2/3 of the ear hair from the point down |
I did that with Bailey when she was a puppy and her ears would go up and down. Shaving the back of the ears keeps the weight off and helps them stand up. The groomer shaved her's all the way, but her ears stood straight up and she liked it, although I thought she looked like batgirl..LOL.... |
Ok Maybe Thats What She Did But I Thought She Actually Cut His Ears Cause If You Look They Are Not Even They Are Crooked, Insead Of Growing Up And Straight, Not Straight Up The Actual Line Of The Ear Or Ridge Of The Ear Is Crooked Like She Cut Hs Ears, Cause When I Got Him I Went To See Him And I Loved Him So I Told Her I Had To Go To The Bank And She Said Ok Ill Trim His Earsm So I Left And Then When I Got Back She Said He Didnt Want The Clippers So I Used The Scissors She Said, And I Was Like You Cut His Ears And She Said It Keeps Them From Drooping, So I Said Ok I Wont Do That But Maybe I Can Bring Him Back To You, And She Said Oh The Groomers Will Do It So Maybe Thats What She Meant But The Tops Of His Ears Are No Hair But The Bottom Of The Ear If Long Hairs, Maybe I Just Mis Understood Her, But Thanks You Guys, So Much |
Call and ask, but if she cut his actual ear it would be bleeding...I have never heard of anybody doing that:( |
This thread is starting to scare me a bit so I am going to try and explain ear trimming to you: It is the shaving of the last third of the ear , this will make the ends of the ear lighter in weight. If you do not shave the tips of the ears the weight of the hair will pull the ear over so it may not stand. Some people will do this with scissors but on a wiggly puppy it can be a bit dangerous. It is best if you let a groomer do this for a while if you do not understand how and maybe she can show you how to use the clippers so you can do it at home. Most people at home use a Whal mustach trimmer, bought at Wal Mart It is still possible to hurt your dog during this process so be very careful. There is no cutting of the ear itself just removing the hair at the ends. Maybe if you look at some show pictures it will become clearer to you. |

it did help thanks you guys, i thought you couldnt cut the ear but i kept thinknig to what she said she just didnt explain herself. but thanks and i wont do any haircut to my baby, i just couldnt take him to the groomers for the last couple months well month and a half since he hadnt had his 2nd series of shots but he has an appt. for friday and i thought i would ask, but thanks you guys |
