Ear question I took Luna to the groomer last week, her nails were super long and she was so matted, I thought that I'd let a pro handle it. I never could cut nails, I cut Starr's too deeply once and that was the last time. I threw the nail clippers away and started paying my vet $13 to do it. Worth every penny! Anyway, they pulled all the hair out of her ears. I know that I took Starr to several groomers before I'd found one that I liked, and some did that, some didn't. I would like to know what all of you do concerning the hair in the ear. Another question. Yes, I'm full of them:P I know you're supposed to stuff their ears with cotton for their bath. Starr used to shake it out before I could even get her into the shower (I used to have her come in with me, it was easier and she loved it). So I would just use some ear-dry stuff after her bath and she never had a problem with her ears. Can I "train" Luna to leave the cotton in, or is there some trick to it? Help! TIA:) What I'd do without all of you, I'll never know! Tracy and Luna:aimeeyork |

I have the same problem. The cotton won't stay in his ears. |
I have the same problem with Jazzie.... Hmmm I wonder if a tampon would work better! At lest we know it would be more absorbent! |
I don't pluck the ears or allow the groomer to pluck. I figue it's super painful and since Jazzie doen't have any ear problems, I choose not to pluck. We have the inner hair trimmed instead. I can't trim the nails either. I just pay the pro's to do it for me. |
The hair in the ears must be pulled for showing but if your dog doesn't have much or has no problems with was or infection, why not leave it be? I do all my own grooming but I must admit that I have a friend who is a groomer pull Connor's ear hair before a show cause I don't want to be the bad guy. As soon as Cricket grows out of her drama stage she'll need to go in though, the hair in her ears is really thick!  |
