What do you use to clean your pups ears? like the dirt that gets trapped inside? I've been using q-tips but i'm scared its pushing the dirt deeper inside. Any suggestions? |
I use Qtips dipped in alcohol. But I don't put them far down in the ear...I just rub it around the opening of the ear canal and get all the dirt out. |

Epi-Otic... Got it from my vet, but it can also be purchased online. |
White vinegar is very effective at removing debris from the ears and killing the yeast and bacteria responsible for ear infections. Grab the ear where it attaches to the head (at the ear base), gently squeeze your thumb and forefinger together, rubbing the solution deep into the ear canals. Wipe the inside of the ear well with cotton balls to remove debris coming from the ear canal. this was posted at www.veterinarysecretsrevealed.com |
You can use most ear cleaners that you get at a petstore to clean out the ear. Although if your pup has ear mites you will need an ear cleaner specifically for treating ear mites. Never use a Q-tip, use a cotton ball instead. |
Whatever pet ear cleaning product you use make sure it has a drying agent ingredient. |

I recently heard or read that the white vinegar kills the mites too. I wish I could remember where I heard it or read it. I'd like to know more about it. If it's true, it would save a lot of money. I haven't tried it. Sylvia |
i let the groomer do it. i'm scared to hurt him. |
Our vet told us to us half vinegar and half alcohol. I use a cotton ball, cut into small pieces if needed. I'd be afraid to use a q-tip, afraid that just as I'm doing it she'd move her head and lord only knows what would happen next... |
My vet recommended OtiCalm. My puppy hates it though and we have to hold him just to clean his ears. |
