dirty head hair A couple of days, sometimes even a day, after morgan gets a bath the hair on her head gets greasy and it makes me want to bathe her again. the rest of her body is fine, even the legs which have longer hair like the head. I use Fresh adn CLean shampoo by Lambert Kay and Pantene smooth and sleek conditioner. any sugguestions ? |
the same thing happens to me w/ gracie i hate it when her hair looks all stringy and oily ! i hope someone has answers for us both! |
The first thing I would suggest is using a good shampoo specifically designed for your furbabie's coat - not human shampoo. Sissy has very silky hair on her head - different from the rest of her body. I use Buddy Wash and Buddy Rinse (lavendar and mint - dog formula). I love the smell of the product. I use the shampoo on her whole body - but I use the rinse (conditioner) on her body only - not her head. If I use it on her head, she looks really greasy. Try making that change and see if it helps. |

I dont have any helpful suggestions. I too have a yorkie with greasy hair and white flecks a couple days after a bath. Im sure its lack of using the right product. I like to use baby shampoo on the head but with this particular dog its definitely not working at all! |
Greasy Head Hair? I have not had any problems with Kia's hair being greasy, even though she has the run of the barn, yard, fields, etc, so she does get quite dirty at times. I use a mild shampoo-Straight Arrow's Mane and Tail or people stuff like Dove, Down Under and Aussie's. I asked a top breeder about this last week, and she prefers Summer Wind, Coat Handler, and/or Mane and Tail. The Mane and Tail is a gentle shampoo, the conditioner and de-tanglers are great, and she does what I do at times-not rinsing the conditioner out. Greasy hair possibly has to do with too much conditioner or not enough rinsing; the hair on the head is usually much thinner, and therefore requires lesser amount of products. Many of the shampoos are quite concentrated-diluting them will help quite a bit. |
I knew someone who had a baby and it came out with a head full of hair. Well with all that hair everyone just had to rub/brush it with their hands. The mother said by the end of the day the baby's hair was so greasy you wouldn't believe. The oils were coming off of people's hands and leaving the hair greasy. Maybe its the same kinda thing. Do you pet her a lot on the top of the head? I would prob try not using the conditioner on the head to see if that helped then also watch to see how much you are petting her on the top of her head to see if that could be part of it too. I don't think I'd quit petting her of course. Anway just thought I'd throw that out there. |
