Tangles Tangles everywhere Zoie is going on 7 months and she's really turning out to be pretty, but her coat isn't silky like it should be and she's getting very hard to take care of. I've brushed her twice a day for the last 4 days and still can't get all the tiny tangles out. I find mats inside her back legs and under one of her front legs (armpit area). I think I'll try some human hair products before I give up and have her hair cut off. I've let it grow out this far and I hate to give up. After reading what others say, I think I'll try some different conditioners and finishing products. I have Ice on Ice and use Pet Silk shampoo and conditioner but she's outside alot lately (got tired of her peeing on the floor) and I think it's drying out her hair which makes it tangle more. She doesn't handle brushing well at all. She bites me when I do her back legs. |
Sounds like a job for COWBOY MAGIC:thumbup: |
I agree! I've never used Cowboy Magic bc I keep my yorkies' hair short, but the breeder from whom I got my 2 swears by it! So do many people on here! It's definately worth a try! |
Has she ever had her hair cut at all? A little trim helped my 10 month old a LOT...got rid of those puppy-coat ends! Also, just shave inside her back legs and under her arms! (easier sd. than done, I know! :p) |
Another vote for Cowboy Magic Concentrated Detangler and Shine. It works great on tangles and helps mositurize the hair and keep them from coming back. I have never tried the shampoo or conditioner line, but love the leave in detangler. www.cowboymagic.com |
I've never used Cowboy Magic. Living in a small town some products are hard to find in my area. But I use THERMASILK DETANGLER LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER SPRAY (Give to me by a friend) for my yorkies. One yorkie tangles VERY EASILY. I just spray them all over and spray a little more on the tangle and work it into the matt and it slides right out. But I have a back up- it's a dematting comb. It works great but since I used the Thermasilk, I haven't used the dematting comb again. |
Cowboy Magic helped me get matts out of Cali. |
Ziggy is getting better about brushing but still has to be bribed with treats. He does get tangles and even mats at times. I see that they have Cowboy Magic at a pet store in my town so I will give it a try. I also bought a MatBreaker comb by Comfy Pet at Petsmart. It strips out the mats without affecting the length of the hair. It works really well and Ziggy tolerates it. |

 Cowboy Magic is INCREDIBLE! |
Just what I do. Wash your baby in baby shampoo. Face and body. Then use any conditioner and lube up the matts. Cut the matts out of the arm pitts and belly and butt regions. Get a good leave on doggie conditioner and take the time to brush the outside hair to a gorgeous shine, you will be glad you did. Invest in a good dematter, just like suggested above. It leaves the length but gets out the mats. Cut the hair short around your puppies eyes to avoid irritation and goo. Show their eyes......they will appreciate it. Visiors are out anyways.:) |
