Wahl clippers dont work!!! Ive just been out on the garden to clip Paddy and Megan with my Wahl clippers and they dont take any hair off!!! I cut their hair myself usually but with scissors (they dont turn out too bad!!) and as much as I keep trying these clippers they just dont work. Do they work on your yorkies?? What do you guys use? :( |
Hmmm...I don't use clippers on Reagan. Well I do but only moustache trimmers. I have a pair of Wahl clippers that I use on my husky. They do take hair off but do get clogged adn have a hard time on him but again he is a husky. Are they new, could there be something wrong with the pair you own? |
Man I wish I could get close enough to Oscar's hair to even know if they work or not! Oscar won't let me near him with the clippers - he hates the sound! |
grooming As a groomer...I used an Oster A1...I used the 8 1/2 blade for ones who were kept in a short Schnauzer type cut with or without a skirt. Blade 10 for ears and belly area...many pet clippers under $60 do not cut well and the blades dull too fast...a good set with blades will run cost to $200..but in 35 years of constant grooming, I only replaced the Oster once..bought new blades every year...a pet owner could go 5 yrs per blade if cared for well... |
If you have a dog afraid of the clippers try an Andis clipper, they vibrate less and are quiet. All of the groomers in my shop use them and I would not use anything else. Your wahl clipper might just need some tunning up, check with a service center. Unless you bought a cheap one then you get what you pay for.... |
i use a regular Wahl's clipper on my three and also a smaller pencil size wahl mustache trimmer. I only clip ears, butts and bridge of nose. Works great. |
clipper Wahl is a very good clipper...I have a small one I have had many years for ears..I forgot about the larger size for all over clipping. |
By the sounds of it I got a dud!!! Thanks for that, maby Ill go and buy another set from the pet store! Then I just have to figure out how to keep Paddy still............! |
1 Attachment(s) When you turn on the clippers, do you see the blades vibrating side to side? Try and squirt some lube (WD40) in between the base of the blade and the backing plate as per picture. If that doesn't work, if there are two screws on top of the unit try loosing it a bit. Hope this helps |
I used to use them on our Peke. They really didn't work very well after the first time. And the oil you have to use is messy. (Actually, reg corn oil worked better on them for us, but it was still messy.) We had more luck with a god set of men's clippers.:) |
i bought reqular mens whal clippers at sams. It came with clippers and a moustach trimmer. I think they work well but I have a hard time clipping the legs. And it always seems like he is so uneven. How does the goomer get them to look so even? |
A good groomer will use scissors on the legs, if the coat is silk it is the only way to make it look great. Debra Ray Owner of Best Friends Pet Salon Salem Oregon |
