Wearing bows every day? :idontknow Gypsy is really good at leaving her bows in and I've finally gotten so I can even get them in straight, lol, but I'm wondering if it's OK for her to wear them every day. Is their hair strong enough or will it break too much? Do any of you put bows in your babies hair everyday? I'm really hoping that I can because I have a whole bunch of beautiful bows coming, lol. :) |
Bows or No Bows Hi There Kenzies Grandma: I have two yorkies who look beautiful with their bows in BUT my smaller girl who has thinner hair loses a lot of her hair if I put her bows in to often. She gets very thin up top from the breakage. My other yorkie is bigger and her hair is thicker and it doesn't seem to affect her as much. |
I quess it probably depends on the kind of hair she has. I used to put them in Jewels hair everyday and her hair would matt and break off. Its gotten pretty thin now and its hard to keep a band in. I would say just try it and see how her hair does. Always take it out every night though or you will definitely get matting. |
Cali always has a bow in and so far no problems. |
Cali Hey Patty- Sorry to get off the subject but how much does Cali weigh? She looks so tiny...and very beautiful!!! |
Thanks she weighs almost 4 1/2 lbs. She is very small boned and has the tiniest nose I have ever seen. |
Cali She is adorable. Seems to have pretty thick hair (from what I can see in the picture) My Nikki is only 3.2 lbs and has very thin hair but I thought for sure Cali was smaller than Nikki. |

She's really beautiful, thanks for posting the pics. I have a serious bow addiction too, lol, :D . What's really serious about it is that I'm still waiting for the bows to come hehe. I ordered a whole bunch from a few different suppliers and I'm expecting the first of them this coming week. I wanted to be able to put a different one on her everyday and not have to repeat all the time (she's not spoiled at all, lol). Actually she's not she just has a nutty mother. Right now I have only 2 little red bows that I got at the groomers so we're feeling seriously fashion challenged. I'll post some pics when the bows come. Gypsy is 3 1/2 yrs. old but I've only had her since last October, she's a little retired show dog and breeder (she had 2 litters and had to be spayed). I just love her so much already I don't know how I ever got along without her. :) |
I always put bows in for my girls, i can't stand it when their hair hangs infront of the eyes - i put the rubber band over a VERY THIN layer of paper, it helps against breakage and matting  |
I like to alternate between bows (or just elastic) and braiding. I'm more worried about the stress on their scalp than hair breakage. I personally have long hair and I know how uncomfortable a ponytail can get. So I figure it's got to be the same for my girls. I usually prefer braiding and put the bow in at the end of the braid. I give them the pony tail couple of days a week. |

Try it while she REALLY tired.:D |
I have never had any problem with leaving the bows in, and as far as Dennis goes, he hardly mats at all. The best thing to use is what the orthodontist’s use for braces. They have lots of stretch and don’t break the hair as much. I a going to the dentist tomorrow, hope he has some because I have run out! |
