Tapping ears How do I tape ears? One ear is down. I used masking tape and wrapped around ear 2x. This came off. Am I suppose to tape ears together? One ear has been un a couple months. Daisy is 5 months old. She is teething. I have cut the ear close on the ear that is down. Please help!!! |
Yes, tape BOTH. Fold one ear together, tape, fold the other, tape...then tape both together in the center of her head. Be aware quite a few yorkies ears drop back down while they're teething. One of Ramsey's popped up quite awhile before the other, but you could see the floppy one gradually working it's way up. Good luck. :) |
Daisy's down ear comes up every now and then. It also flips completely back. Do you advise I tape them now or wait? |
Sounds like her floppy one is going to stand eventually, must be the teething, I'd wait and see. If it doesn't stand then you can tape them. The shaving is going to help too. I still trim around Ramsey's edges because once the hair on the tips starts growing....hers aren't as erect as I like. They don't flop back down...it justs the edges seem to be floppy. Ramsey's breeder taped her ears, both up the day I got her, next day...one day....next day...both down. I was going to tape them, but then within a couple of weeks one popped up and then the other did. The second was more gradual...a little less fold every few days until it popped up. |
Yes, she is teething. What do you mean by "folding" the ear? How old is your Yorkie? |
Here is a link on taping ears. It shows a picture with the ears taped and you should be able to see what it means to fold the ears. Remember to make sure the tape you are using is lightweight, alot of heavy tape will weigh down the ears. http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html |
That was a great tip. Only thing, I cannot keep the scotch tape on her ear. Her ear does seem to go up a lot more. It still flops over. But she is extensively teething. She just got 4 new upper/lower teeth. She just lost 3 more teeth. Hopefully, that is the problem. I am cutting her ear short. Thanks again. |
