Hair right around the eyes. 1 Attachment(s) OK, so I've started grooming Ty myself and I'm really not cutting his hair at all. I only clean up his ears, his little bootie and do his nails. My question is what about the hair around his eyes? When I put his topknot up his got some pieces that don't make into the top knot? Are these just still too short. Here's a picture, you see all of those little hairs. Should they be in the topknot or should they start growing down his face??? |
I just got frustrated with Cali's eye hair and cut it down today when I was grooming her. |
Kirby has hair in the EXACT same place, right in front of his eyes like that and I've tried to cut them but I don't like having the scissors so close to his eyes with him wriggling all over the place. What I did was wait until he was asleep and snip them quickly. of course he would wake up and I had to wait for him to fall asleep againg to finish the job. It took a couple of days to get them all and I know they're going to grow back so I'm wondering the same thing as you. |

MOST people will tell you to Leave it alone - but I prefer a neat look and trim my girls - so I trim a tiny bit under their eyes ...and I mean a tiny bit. BUT - if you're patient - it may grow out on it's own - I use a tiny trimmer - no scissors near the eyes for me either - but this 1st trimmer works WONDERFUL - or a personal trimmer that Sally's sell work too - but I like the first one the best - a few swipes - and it opens their eyes right up....not hair sticking out and you can really see those pretty brown eyes.... Here's Cheri after her first trim - I think you can see where I cut |
I bought blunt end dog scissors and they work real ggod. I just cut awat from her face and my dtr helps me. Cali sits pretty good now. |
My groomer trims that hair real short. |
1 Attachment(s) Here's Cali today after I trimmed her eyes. Now we can see them and she can see where she's going. |
I leave that hair. What I do is put a little hair gel on it and smooth it down. On my maltese I trim that hair. :) |

Mayzie had her first grooming appt this week and I asked the groomer to trim that area. She did exactly what I wanted. Just a tiny bit--mainly the stubborn hairs that insisted on laying on her eyes. I think she is much happier too. |
Cute Hair Bow DaisyMaes Mom, Where did you get that camouflage pattern bow? I really like it.:aimeeyork :animal-pa |

I got it on Ebay from Val's Diva Bows I believe it's called. I'm out of town right now, but when I get home I'll check it because I have it saved in my favorites... :) |
I have been persevering (sp?) with Gypsy's hair since I got her last fall. Her hair had been chopped off when she had her puppies and it was sticking out all over around her face. I really wanted to put her hair in a topknot though so I've been trying really hard to stick it out. It's finally made it long enough that most of hair between her eyes (right from the base of her nose) goes up into the topknot and the rest of the hair on her nose is growing into a nice mustache (? is that what you call it?) that is starting to lie really nice. It just depends on whether you want to tough it out until it's long enough or to keep trimming it. |
can anyone tell me about how long it took for your babys hair to grow long and thick enough to keep a bow in it good? Kizzy will be 4 months old, 2 June. I just hope her hair grows enough to do that eventually, but I'm getting impatient I guess. |
I trim that hair also. Actually the groomer did last Nov. I had heard that a lot of people left theirs alone and eventually it will lay down. Well it was already laying down so I wasn't too happy when I saw that they had cut it but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. Like Villette said it really opens up those eyes and make them look so big and beautiful. So since then I have tried to keep it cut myself. It is a little scary working so close to their eyes though. |
