Grooming questions I have a 5 month yorkie that I want to maintain his puppy cut style (instead of letting his hair grow long). I probably will take him to the professional groomers every so often. But I would like the option of grooming him myself, since it seems easy to do after reading many of the postings here from yorkie owners. I tried reading up on the type of clippers to use, but there are SO MANY out there. 1. Can anyone recommend a specific clipper brand/model to use for his overall body? Does the size of the clipper matters? I don't know if many of them are too big to be used on a yorkie. 2. Many of you also recommend the Wahl Stylique and the Pocket Pro Trimmers. Is one better than the other? Is it necessary to get both of them? 3. Exactly how many clippers/trimmers would I need if I decide to groom him myself from head to toe? Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions. Kathy |
clippers to use at home I just got the stylique and the wahl bravura clipper. No blade changing. It adjusts to 5 levels and comes with 3 combs, and it is cord/cordless. Go to petedge.com where prices are very good. You should also get long pet scissors with a blunt end or safety end. The length lets you cut a long line of hair in one motion. |
I'm interested in this too. What kind of clippers does anyone else use? Are 2 speeds better than one? Price wise, how much should I spend to get a good clipper set? What height of combs will I need to groom a yorkie? Any other information would be appreciated because I'm looking into buying a set of clippers soon. Thanks. |
