Pet Silk... tried it I got my order yesterday and gave Zoie a bath this morning. I used the Clean Scent shampoo and Rainforest Conditioner ( I bought two scents on purpose so I could try more than one) I also used the liquid silk afterwards on her wet hair. She smells great and looks softer than normal. The true test will be a few days from now to see how the hair has done and what it smells like. :-) I did notice some of the ingredients in the shampoo weren't that great and it had propylene glycol in it as well as mineral oil in the conditioner or shampoo. These aren't great ingredients. And of course, Sodium Laureth Sulfate was very very high on the shampoo, another not so great ingredient for humans at least. Oh well, they are big bottles and I paid alot for them, so I guess I'll use it up :-) When she went to the groomer the other day I think whatever they used was drying her hair out, or maybe the blow dry did. Anyway they didn't pull the hair out of her ears or shave her privates that well, so I was disappointed. They were super nice though, so I can't decide what to do about finding someone else. |

I understand the whole groomer thing...we have been through a slew of them, it is hard to find a groomer you are completely happy with. Good luck. |
I've been using the Pet Silk shampoo and conditioner on my two here, also. I agree, just after bath and brushing it looks/feels/smells great. But, I must say I've been disapointed a few days after bathtime, for the price of the product. I won't buy it again. |
I know what you mean about the smell not lasting long enough. But, I think I expect too much, she is a dog!!!!! So, she smells doggy after 4 days or so, which is why she gets two baths a week usually. She does fine with it and I like her to smell good. I use the liquid silk on her while she's wet and it helps her to smell fresh longer and make her so soft. My husband even said yesterday how soft she was and how good she smelled and that was two days after a bath, pretty good??? Also, for those of us obsessed with the pups smelling good.........wash their bedding several times a week. I do this because sometimes she pees in her bed overnight if I don't get up until after 6 a.m. But, sometimes I wash it just because. I've noticed with the Gain Fresh Awakenings and the Gain fabric softener it smells so fresh. I'm loving the smell. It took me awhile one day to realize that the fabulous smell I was smelling was the Gain.........just to share. I know you all prob. think I'm going a bit far for smell, but I have an extremely strong sense of smell, so it matters alot more to me than most people. I can smell skunk miles before my husband does (literally). LOL |
I have an extremely sensitive nose, too. Gain gives me migraines :) As does most all perfumed products. If there's a smell in the house, I HAVE to find it! Since I did gripe about this product, I will also say that one of the things that might have me buying it (though I said I wouldn't) for my senior mix is the fact that he has always had terrible skin allergies. When they act up, he smells like feet, and he has a dander on his rear end. Since using the pet Silk, I haven't seen any dander on Mozart at all, and he doesn't smell of feet. I do think I'll try the CC System for Miss Abigail, though. |
That's too bad about the headaches. My dad is like that, my mom can't burn any candles without him griping. I don't get headaches from smells too often, but it does happen, mostly with highly perfumed candles or potpourri, or something like that. I stick to vanilla scents and except for the glade candles, I do fine :-) Laundry detergent doesn't do that to me either, although I do have definite preferences as to what smells good to me. I can stand and smell shampoo and laundry soap in the store for 30 minutes trying to pick out one! LOL My husband hates to shop for soap with me LOL |
If I were you I would switch groomers, in my opinion you should be 100% satisfied with them! I noticed that you live in MO and so do I, where at do you live in MO? |
I have a question..... we use cc systems and after about 3 days lexi looks greesy again, has anyone noticed if petsilk helps with the greesinesssssss? thank you |
I live near St. Louis, and you? |
Zoie isn't too greasy, but I think it cleans well. It would do a good job of getting rid of the greasies for at least a few days I think. I would just use the shampoo and a spray in conditioner instead of a regular one if my dog was greasy. The stay in ones will just help to detangle and not moisturize or add more oil to the hair. |
thanks for the advice i tried cc system bc other yters said it would help but it has not so i guess i am on to try the next product. thanks |

I use Petsilk clean scent conditioner on Benji. It's less greasy if you dilute it and make sure you rinse really, really well. Benji still looks and smells great a week or more after his bath. I also brush him a couple of times a day which I'm sure helps to keep him clean. I shampoo him with wonderful handmade goats' milk soap that's made near me. (Their people soap is great too!) I met the lady who makes it at a dog park fundraiser. Her son had sensitive skin so she started making soap for him. The company grew from there. Magic Moon Goat Milk Soaps |
