clippers what are the best clippers to invest in and where do you buy them? I want clipper that do different things. Remmy has very curley cottoney hair. I like to keep him in a shorter cut as his hair mats easily. Chance has silkier hair. I would like to grow it longer but not to long. I want to be able to shave his bottom and keep his belly shorter also. what clippers to you recommend?? |
The only clipper I've used is the little miniature Wahl one. It was only around $10 and I use it just to trim ears and paw pads and hiney area. It's great though for it's cost but I can't give any advise on a bigger one for overall trimming. The little one is really easy to handle for those little jobs though. |
I bought a clipper set from Petsmart, that has a removable blade so you can take it off to get it sharpened or switch to a different blade. It also comes with the plastic attachments to go over the blade to get different lengths. It will work good for the body & I try to use it the best I can for Twinkies belly, bum, ears, & paw pads (it's a little big for her but she isn't even 3 lbs). I am growing her hair out, but in case I wanted to clip her down I got these ones. Anyways, I bought them at the Petsmart store, and it was what the groomer reccomended. Here's the link to them on Petsmart http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...N=2026120&Ne=2 |
I have Andis Plus+ model AG. Mine are about 5 yrs old now so they may have different model #'s. They were around $195 cdn. I spoke to a few professional groomers before I bought mine. Some liked Oster better than Andis but I tried the Andis before I purchased them and I found them easy to handle. I have groomed my Shihtzu and another dog several times a year with them. The blade that I bought to do my Shihtzu is a 3 3/4 (13mm). It leaves him a little bit longer. I haven't tried it on my Yorkie yet as he is only 5 months old. Maybe someone can recommend the blade # for trimming a Yorkie. |
One more thing. The clippers come with the standard #10 blade. I don't like the #10 as I don't like cutting them really short. I sometimes use the #10 for his bum. |
