Is it necessary to cut his hair on his face? pic included. Advice needed! I have had Alfie for like 3 months now and never had his hair cut. Do you think he needs it yet? I would like to keep him very fluffy looking but im scared he cant see properly! Just trim under his eyes and across his nose to get the ones that are poking in his eyes. Unless you want to grow out the top so you can put it up, trim just what flops down into his eyes. |
You can use vaseline to just smooth the hair down until it grows long enough for the weight to hold it. Do not cut his hair or you will end up with more problems if you want it to be long. |
I used hair gel on my dog when she was younger to keep the hair out of her eyes. It worked great! Now her hair is long enough the weight keeps the hair out of her eyes. :aimeeyork |
LOL! You got Great help here....I used Vasaline too and it will help keep the hair down...but tends to make their faces look very dirty It all depends on you what you want to do....I had let my girls grow out when they were little....but prefer to trim them now - they play in the yard alot and I like a clean look - so I trim a tiny bit under their eyes...and tiny bit between the eyes....it really opens their eyes .....and I can see those pretty little windows to their souls... |
Hair cut... Your little guy has a cute face. I was wondering about this myself with my little Lex. I am undecided as to if I want a full coat or the short coat so bought these palm size clippers so I can groom the face area. Thanks for the suggestion. |
Villette... Do you really trim their faces! I never would have guessed!!! I would be forever gratefull if you would post a closeup of one of the girls... just so I can see exactly what you cut! I am fighting with Pixies face... Growing out what the groomer cut a few months ago.. Pleeeeease!!!!!! |

ok thanks for al the advice. My mum said to me when i got him not to ever cut his hair myself but to get someone who knows what they are doing to do it. I dont want to mess it up or hurt him. Do you think it will be ok to do it myself and do you have any tips pn how to do it? thanks for all your help, i feel like i am always asking you guys for help! |

I had to do some trimming on these guys faces. I did it while they were sleeping. I had to wait for a second nap with Tressie. 1/2 the first napand 1/2 the second. LOL |
Thinners work really great for trimming the hair that sticks up in front of their eyes. You can get them at Petsmart or Petco and maybe beauty supply places also. They have blunt ends so you are less likely to poke your baby and results look more natural than regular sissors. I don't like to use electric clippers on yorkie faces. It's really easy to control how much hair you remove with the thinners and there is no scary buzzing noise like the clippers. There really is no reason to be afraid to do minor trimming on your own yorkie. Remember, it's just fur and will grow back. Just be conservative. You can always cut more off. |

He looks precious like he is, but you could just trim the hair from his nose that's blocking his eyes if you'r worried about him being able to see. |

I have noticed everyone talking about grooming their yorkies themselves. My buddy is 13 weeks old. When I try to trim the hair around his eyes and ears he throws the most awful fit. Does anyone have any suggestions or should I just give up doing it myself and take him to the groomers? :animal36 |
